Angola-on-the-Lake’s iconic Beach Club at Mickey Rats will be celebrating its “Final Last Call” in the building it has called home for over 40 years on Saturday, September 11th. Join your hosts Richi Alberts, Wayne Griem, Michael Pettys, Billy Paladino and John Maxwell at this historic event where you can share your favorite Mickey Rats memories with friends, family, Staff (past and present) and the “regulars” that have kept the Mickey Rats legacy alive for so long. As Mickey Rats begins a new phase of development, the existing building will be demolished to make way for a more up-to-date beach club. The new bar/restaurant will continue the Mickey Rats tradition of a large outdoor covered patio bar, expansive patio seating, and now offer a second story rooftop bar. Patrons can continue to enjoy the beautiful Lake Erie sunsets, beach club atmosphere and beach access that they know and love for another 40 plus years. Be sure to stop down on September 11th for your last look and to celebrate one Final Last Call! Doors will open at 11am and the party continues all day. Proceeds from the raffle of a 6 foot section of the Captain Kidds bar top and Last Call T-shirt sales will benefit the Lakeshore Family Support Center.

Howard “Hub” M. Frawley, Jr. of Angola, NY entered into rest on August 29, 2021. Beloved husband of Margaret M. Frawley. Brother of the late Marlene Catalino; Brother-inlaw of Robert (Patricia) Catalino, Judy (late Tony) Montella and Rosemary (Russ) Bagley. Nephew of the late Shirley (Robert) Beck. Uncle of Roman (Kathy) Catalino, Lisa (Richard) Plukas and Robert II Catalino. Cousin of Robert E. Beck. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Arrangements entrusted to the Addison Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 2 in the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Hub served as a former Mayor of the Village of Angola for 16 Years. Flowers gratefully declined, memorials may be made to either the Angola Volunteer Fire Department or the Erie County SPCA. Hubba was a former President of the Evans Jaycees from 1973-1974, a Life Member of Angola Moose Lodge #1613, where he served as Governor from 1983-1984. He was a member of the Sturgeon Point Sportsman’s Club, Evans Brant Chamber of Commerce, being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. He is the Founding father of the Old Ford Athletic Club, and was the chairman of the 125 Year Quasquieentennial for the Village of Angola and was instrumental in the Village of Angola Christmas lighting projects. __________

(Strayer) for 69 years; dearest father of Patricia (Wayne) Harvey, Jessie (Doug) Martorana, William (Mary Jo) Martin, Wayne (Angie) Martin and the late Christine Leise; Granddad of Tanya (Jason), Jennifer (Shawn), Alex, Marissa, Eric, Raylyn and late Frank; great grandpa of Anthony, Talyn, Avery, Taydan, Taylen and Lily; brother of Donald, Jerry (Beverly), Howard (Mary Lou) and the late John, Marshal, Wes, Claudia, Imogene, Kathleen, Paul, Kevin and Dennis; survived by many nieces and nephews; son of the late Robert and Kathleen Martin. Mr. Martin served 3 years in the US Army, one year in Korea, worked at the Sturgeon Point Marina and Drove the Evans Senior Van. The Insurance Policy that Protects Trapping in New York State.

The New York State Trappers Association was formed in 1938 by a small group of trappers at O.L. Butcher’s Adirondack camp on the Blue Ridge. In attendance was E.J. Dailey, O.L. Butcher and Pete Rickard. We believe the first New York State Trappers Association Convention was held in 1941 at Piseco Lake on Labor Day Weekend and has been held on this weekend ever since. It was held at Piseco Lake until the NYSTA outgrew the facilities. In 1978 it was moved to West Winfield and until 1994 was moved from fairground to fairground statewide. In 1994 we were welcomed by the Herkimer County Fair Board. A close alliance was formed with them and the New York State Trappers Association has hosted their Labor Day weekend Convention and Sportsman’s Show at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds ever since. At the convention and Sportsmen show you can find all kinds of sportsman supplies, kid’s activities, trapping supplies, tanned fur, wildlife paintings and photographs, and more. At the NYSTA booth in dealer building #1, you can purchase a membership, and pick up some cool T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and NYSTA merchandise of all types. This year the New York State Trappers Association welcomes Rose Anna Moore to our convention. Rose was one of the participants featured on season 8 of the History Channel’s “Alone” series on television that aired in July and August of this year. Rose will have a booth in building #1 to meet and visit with anyone that stops by. On Friday, September 3rd, Rose will give a special presentation, in the demo area, about her experiences on the series and what it was like being “Alone” for months on Grizzly Island.
