Volunteers Help Make Town of Evans Senior Center Shine
The Evans Senior Center is pleased to have the opportunity to continue partnerships with organizations in the community. This year we had several young ladies from Chicago and Montana that gave of their time and energy for several days to assist in cleaning interior parts and removal of items of the Senior Center and give the exterior a face lift. Tasks completed included power washing all entrances, removing old landscape lumber with new and stain lumber around all the flower beds and picnic tables, and repainting both signs of the Center. Now you can see our name beautifully from the streets. Last but not least, volunteers put in new landscaping lumber to make a boarder around the tree that was donated for our deceased Director Julie Roach. The Town of Brant’s Oldest Citizen - Angelo Militello Jr.
The Brant Summer Festival Committee continued the tradition of honoring Brant’s Oldest Citizen. An “Oldest Brant Citizen” ribbon and button were available this year for Angelo Militello Jr. to celebrate and recognize his milestone birthday of 99 years in December of 2016, and to acknowledge that he is indeed our oldest citizen! Angelo was born and raised in Farnham, N.Y. and he has lived in the Town of Brant his entire life.
The committee and town of Brant residents were anticipating that Angelo would participate in the parade, however, he was unable to attend the festivities this year. At a date prior to the summer festival, the button and ribbon were given to Angelo’s granddaughter Linda McFarland. She said he was thrilled with this honor!
