We expect that more than a few people will recall this view of the bar and front dining area within the doors of “The Farnham Hotel” later known as “Pizzolanti’s Restaurant”. Make notice of the cigarette machine in the corner, a juke box to the right and the arcade game of bowling against the wall. The establishment was located on Commercial Street in Farnham, N.Y. and had been owned by the Pizzolanti family since 1917. According to a pre-1941 matchbook cover; the Farnham Hotel’s menu offered Spaghetti, Chicken Cacciatore, Steak and Fish Dinners. James Pizzolanti was the proprietor and Mike Pizzolanti (his son), the manager. We came across information that Mike’s wife Kate ran the restaurant beginning in the year of 1941 (until 2005), serving her homemade and quite popular spaghetti sauce. Her daughter Michelle also helped with the business. At the time of it’s closing in 2005, the restaurant had been owned and operated by a member of the Pizzolanti family for 89 years. The building, built in the 1800’s, is still located on Commercial Street in the section between the two railroad overpasses and is now a private residence.
