We look forward to seeing everyone each year. As the group gets larger each year, it’s wonderful to see how we’ve all changed and the journeys we’ve taken in life.

The Wireless Center is a Verizon Retailer based out of Cleveland, Ohio. We opened their first doors in 2001 under the name I Wireless. Since then we have grown and achieved Premium Retailer Status with Verizon Wireless. This is a distinguished title given to the best retailers in the USA.
We opened our doors for the first time in Derby in late 2015. On Saturday, June 17th, we were pleased to have our Grand Opening/ Customer Appreciation Day at our New location at 6929 Erie Road! Along with great deals on cell phones, we had family friendly events for everyone. Many children enjoyed getting their face painted and jumping in the bounce house (many adults enjoyed this also). Our own employee, Ashley DiSarno, sat in the drunk tank waiting to be cooled off by our wonderful guests! We also had Plinko and Ring toss for everyone to enjoy. Many guests were rewarded during their visit with some great prices. Congratulations to everyone who won a prize!

We had a great time with everyone who came out and enjoyed the beautiful day with us. We look forward to being everyone's neighborhood Verizon store and look forward to future events we will be having.

First photo: Brant’s Youngest Citizen: Katelyn Valerie Kurucz in the Brant Summer Festival Parade; Second photo: Brant’s 2nd Youngest Citizen: Gatlin Herc, with his family; Dad Cory, big brother’s Caden and Cole and Mom Krystle; Third photo: Walking in the Brantfest Parade is Brant’s 3rd Youngest Citizen Raegan McClure with her Mom Erin
One week prior to the Brant Summer Festival, a request was placed in the local pennysavers to find the youngest citizen in the Town of Brant. On Brantfest Saturday, we had not one - but three little ones to honor! The first to register was Gatlin Herc who was born in March 2017, however his first place position was held only for a short time as he was bumped to second place by Katelyn Valerie Kurucz born April 5, 2017! Raegan McClure is our 3rd youngest citizen registered - she was born in October of 2016.
All three babies attended Brant Summerfest on Sunday June 11, 2017. For Sunday’s parade, Katelyn rode in a car driven by her Grandpa. She was held high through and out of the sunroof by her Mom, so that all could see her! The car was decorated with the “Youngest Brant Citizen” banners. Raegan and her mom walked in the parade with Reagan wearing her 3rd youngest Brant Citizen ribbon. Gatlin and his family arrived later that day to claim his 2nd youngest Brant citizen ribbon. They were all so happy! The two youngest babies, Gatlin and Katelyn, each received a button for their parent to wear claiming to be “Proud Parent of Brant’s Youngest Citizen”. The Brant-Farnham Historical Society has a $25 gift certificate for Katelyn which will be mailed to her during the month of July.
Katelyn’s proud Mom is Rebecca Kurucz. Gatlin’s proud family consists of parents - Krystle and Cory Herc and his older brothers Caden and Cole. Raegan’s proud parents are Erin and Joseph McClure. The Brant Summer Festival committee and the Town of Brant residents were pleased to welcome our town’s youngest citizens Katelyn Kurucz, Gatlin Herc and Raegan McClure! Sunday, August 6th 1 pm - ?

At the 14th Annual Brant Summer Festival, the always unpredictable and hilarious Donkey Race had two eager contestants. At 4PM on Sunday June 11th, the race began and it was “Baby Donkey” (the rookie) versus “Jackpot” (who has had more than a few races to his credit). There were many zigs and zags (donkeys never run in a straight line) before the race was finished.
This is the first time ever that “Jackpot” won a race at the Brant Summer Festival, as usually the winner is “Lucille” (owned by Town of Persia Town Clerk Denise Trumpore). However, this year “Lucille” couldn’t attend, giving “Jackpot” the opportunity to win that coveted blue ribbon!
Shown in the photo is the proud winner “Jackpot” displaying Eeyore-like exuberance and his driver Tory Schmitt. Town of Brant Clerk Barbara Daniels is the owner of both “Jackpot” and “Baby Donkey.” (“Baby Donkey” is a girl.)

This year the committee for the 14th Annual Brant Summer Festival had a few different ideas to provide extra fun to the families in attendance. Committee person - Linda Giancarlo had suggested the “I’m a little Farmer” children’s parade and then also a children’s drag race using battery operated vehicles. Both ideas proved to provide much joy to our youngest attendees. Shown in the photo is the first “line up” for the first “heat” of the battery operated vehicles. Each child received ribbons and trophies for their effortsthe kids, the parents AND the organizers all had a blast!! We will definitely keep these two activities in our plans for next year.

Students in Grades 6 & 7 spent the morning at Saint Joseph Cathedral on June 14th. Father Peter Karalus & Father Michael LaMarca met the kids downtown and Father Peter took them on a tour throughout the Cathedral. He told them about the history with Bishop Timon and talked about the architecture. After the tour, Father Peter held Mass in the chapel. Pictured: The students in front of one of the windows.

Several students in Grades 3 to 8 participated on 2017 Track & Field team. This is a co-ed sport where students compete in sprints, relay, long distance running, standing long jump, running long jump & soft ball throw. Our school competed against several schools at different meets at Canisius High School and St Francis High School. Many of our kids were invited to compete at All-SITA. The Evans Senior Center hosted its first major event the weekend of July 8th and 9th, in that it opened its grounds and doors to the 44th Annual Evans Art Guild Outdoor Summer Show. The center hosted a bake sale – with homemade goodies made by our seniors – which was quite successful in raising funds for more senior center events. Seniors also displayed their crafts and handiwork – Crocheting, Quilting and Sewing, as well as original watercolors done in the Senior Watercolor classes. The Art show, as always, had many different artists and artisans, and was juried by local muralist and decorative painter, Tim Martin. Tim, who grew up in Derby, brought along his now famous Ducky painting, which ultimately sold to a local resident who was visiting the EAG Art Show. There was also a great Chinese Auction and barbeque lunch and snacks. It was a great weekend for the Arts in Evans!

The Gowanda & Buffalo Model Rail Road Club brought their complete Thomas the Train activity area to the 14th Annual Brant Summer Festival held June 9th-11th at the Brant Town Park. The area was set up in the gym of the recreation building, allowing plenty of room for creative play. During the festival weekend, this was a popular area for kids, as they were able to design their own train layouts using the wooden trains, tracks and pieces.
