In the early morning hours of February 21st, 2019, I went into cardiac arrest. If not for my wife, Evans PD, Angola Fire Department and the paramedics from AMR, I would not be here today. It has been a long road for which I am still in the recovery mode. From the onset of my event, I had help from family and friends. If not for them, I truly believe I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today. I have received hundreds and hundreds of get well cards, phone calls, text messages and Facebook posts from friends, family and complete strangers. These messages kept me going through this life altering event. I tried returning phone calls and messages, but due to the volume, I was unable to contact everyone. I welcome family, friends and all who wish to celebrate my successful recovery...

Ingredients: 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 4 cloves garlic, peeled 1 slightly heaping tbsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. kosher salt, plus a generous 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, pinch for the garlic plus additional for seasoning 3 cups cola 1/2 tsp. hot sauce, plus additional 1 1/2 cups ketchup for seasoning 1/4 cup cider vinegar 1/4 tsp. ground allspice 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice Directions: Smash the garlic cloves, sprinkle with a generous pinch of salt, and, with the flat side of a large knife, mash and smear mixture to a coarse paste. Stir garlic paste, salt, cola, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire, chili powder, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, and allspice together in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until thickened, about 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly, stir in the lime juice, and season with black pepper and hot sauce, to taste.

American Legion Post 928 Participates in Memorial Day Services at Brant Center

American Legion Newcomb Long Post 928 prepares for military salute at the Town of Brant Memorial Day Service.

Members of the American Legion Newcomb Long Post 928 of Angola, N.Y. assisted the Town of Brant in their Memorial Day Services on May the 27th at the Brant Memorial Park located at the Brant four corners. As part of the Town of Brant’s planned services these noble Veterans played tribute to our fallen heroes by firing three rounds of their rifles. Immediately after the rifle rounds, those in attendance heard the trumpet’s sorrowful cry of “Taps”. All listened silently as the familiar and reflective notes enveloped the entire park. Following the town of Brant’s Memorial Day program, Post 928 headed to the Village of Angola to march in their annual parade, which ended at the Forest Avenue Cemetery.
