Ingredients:

Pub Style Beer Cheese Dip

16oz sharp cheddar cheese, cut into bite-size cubes

4 oz cream cheese, room temp & cubed

1.5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 – 2/3 cups of beer

Directions:

BACON WRAPPED SCALLOP SKEWERS

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 tablespoon McCormick Grill Mates Roasted Garlic & Herb

12 slices thick-cut bacon

1 pound large sea scallops (about 12)

Directions:

1. Mix butter and Seasoning in small bowl. Set aside.

1. Place all ingredients, except for the beer in a food processor. Blend until finely chopped.

2. Slowly pour in beer a little at a time until desired texture is achieved. I started with 1/2 cup, and added a little more (about 2/3 cups).

3. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. Serve with pretzels, crackers or veggies.

2. Arrange bacon slices in single layer on bacon grilling rack or shallow disposable foil pan. Grill over medium-high heat 3 to 5 minutes or until bacon is halfway cooked. Remove bacon from grill; cool slightly.

3. Wrap 1 piece of bacon around each scallop. Thread onto skewers. Brush scallops with butter mixture.

4. Grill skewers over medium heat 6 to 8 minutes or until scallops are opaque and bacon is crispy, turning occasionally and brushing with any remaining butter mixture.

Mayor Hoisington asked Father Jim Fliss of St. Anthony’s Church to give the invocation. Devon Rovnak’s voice rang out strong and clear as she sang our “National Anthem” and later into the services, Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.” In attendance were the Farnham Fire Dept Color Guard, the Farnham Village Board and officials, the Brant Town Board and officials, and many residents of the Brant-Farnham community. Neil Ross, US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, Retired gave a speech as did Supervisor Pero and Mayor Hoisington. Each speech, unique in its own way, was united by a common theme; each stressed the importance of remembering our Veterans who fought to keep us safe, to be thankful everyday for the freedoms we enjoy and that we should never forget the sacrifices made by our Veterans. These are certainly significant sentiments to keep in our hearts and minds. Five US flags representing the five armed services were placed in front of the veteran’s monument by Josephine Battaglia, David Berns, David Pruett, Dennis Rubeck and Michael Graci. The service closed with a Benediction by Fr. Jim Fliss. After the services, the Farnham Fire Dept hosted their annual Memorial Day Chicken BBQ which began at Noon. Chamber of Commerce Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Evans Brant Chamber of Commerce took part in the celebration of the Grand Opening of Peaceful SOUL Farmers Market with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday June 6th. Despite the rainy weather, the opening day of the farmers market brought out many customers and 31 vendors. The market will only grow from here on out.

Memorial Weekend Program at Derby Veterans Park

This year’s program saw our customary supporters; see our theme addressed (Not all Vietnam Veterans died in Vietnam.) Lion Joe Sullivan spoke of the ways that veterans faced the hardship of returning to, what many felt was a sometimes-hostile enviroment. He spoke of the Agent Orange syndrome. He addressed that there were over 20 suicides each day.

Members of the Lake Shore Senior High Show Choir honored the attendees with “God Bless America and The National Anthem.”

This year’s program changed, as we honored one of our Gold Star Mothers, Bette Jackowiak. This is the first year of the past 15 that Bette missed. Everyone had the opportunity to sign a get-well card which after the program, with a floral arrangement, was delivered by Connie Holt of the V.F.W. Our other Gold Star Mother Amy Morriscy, was also under the weather and could not attend.

The Color Guard of the Legion & V.F.W. honored our fallen veterans, with a 21-gun salute.

Guest speaker was our Supervisor Mary Hosler. This year at the park we installed an Eagle, so when passing by take a glance.

Remember those rocks, those stones, that wall represent local human beings that died with the hope that we could be and remain free.

Mothers Day Bath Bombs

Students in Mrs. Heather Carney’s Grade 1 class made Mother’s Day Bath Bomb gifts as part of STREAM. Each child took a turn either measuring, pouring or mixing the ingredients. The Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), is a key ingredient in this bathtub explosion. When the high pH powder reacts with a low pH acid (Citric acid) it produces carbon dioxide bubbles. The Citric acid is the chemical, but it doesn’t react with sodium bicarbonate until it gets wet. When they added water, that’s when the reaction was apparent & exciting for the class to see!
