A.J. Schmidt Students and Fiddle Club Perform “Pajama Party”

On Wednesday, April 17, the first grade students and Fiddle Club from A.J. Schmidt Elementary performed “Pajama Party.” Based on the songs of popular children’s songwriter Cristi Cary Miller, “Pajama Party” mesmerized the audience with colorful art sets, dramatic acting and inspirational singing. The Fiddle Club enjoyed playing alongside their little friends and acting as good role models.

Pajama Party is a cozy musical journey that explores our early learning routines by taking personal responsibility. Responsibility builds confidence, which helps us stay strong through our fears. Using this framework, students learned that through their routines, they will be successful. Contributed by Lake Shore CSD

SUPPLEMENTAL SUMMONS

Mortgaged Premises: 1112 KINGSTON COURT DERBY, NY 14047

District: Section: 193.09

Block: 1 Lot: 8

From the Old Photo Album

Circa 1940; 4 year old Billy Giambrone posing for a photo with the family work horse.

Until replaced by tractors, horsepower was a necessity on the farm. Up to the mid 1900’s, most family farms included at least one horse for transportation and to help work the land.

One photo depicts four year old Billy Giambrone setting atop the family horse. Notice the harnessing that is required for a work horse: horse collar, hame straps, tugs or traces, belly and back straps, britchen, bits, a bridle and more!

In the other photo, Billy’s dad John is cultivating the land via horse power on their Ellis Road, Brant, N.Y. farm. The crops grown would be taken to the local canning factories for processing or sold at market.

To this day, many descendants of John Giambrone reside in Brant; some on the Ellis Road homestead and others on surrounding or nearby land.

NOTICE OF NATURE OF ACTION AND RELIEF SOUGHT

Rachael Goetz of Lakeview

Named EC Athlete of the Week

Rachael Goetz, of Lakeview, NY, was one of two Elmira College student-athletes receiving Athlete of the Week honors.

Third-year student-athletes Jansen Crossley ‘20 of the baseball team and Rachael Goetz ‘20 of the women’s lacrosse team have been named EC Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 21.

In two games last week, Goetz provided all of the offense for the EC women’s lacrosse team. The junior from Lake View, New York, scored a combined three goals to extend her goal-scoring streak to three consecutive contests.

At SUNY Canton on Thursday, April 18, Goetz recorded one tally on a free-position opportunity, to go along with a pair of ground balls, two draw controls, and one caused turnover. Two days later in Empire 8 Conference action against Utica, the third-year midfielder posted her fifth multi-goal game of the year by netting a pair against the Pioneers. She also added two ground balls and one draw control in the contest.

Although injury sidelined her for six games this season, Goetz has continued to showcase her nose for goal. She ranks second on the team in points (19), goals (18) and draw controls (27). For her career, Goetz needs just three more goals to tie the late Julie Clune ‘05 (72) for 11th in program history.
