RAfter being recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Evans Brant Chamber of Commerce, I could only describe my life and involvement here in this community in a way we all can relate.
I feel in my heart that God has laid this path out in front of me right down the middle of Main Street. You all stood there smiling, waving, welcoming and cheering me on as my float came through. Some of you joined in and marched alongside of me and I mostly recall the Krajacic and Milks family since the start. My float consisted of my children being the wheels and support, my husband being my framework and my strength, and the good Lord decorating my float with warmth and sunshine and the path to keep moving forward, to help me achieve my purpose in life. And in my heart, I won the prize for best float every time. That is because being a part of your community is one of the true blessings that I have been given. Life has been like a big parade. Marching for the goodness of our community and sharing the light and love that God has instilled in me. God has really blessed me with each and every one of you and each of you have a gift to offer.
I wish all of you to open your hearts to the Good Lord, follow the beautiful path he has laid out for you and don’t look back. Share your blessings with those you meet and those you love. Don’t be afraid to stand out and take in the surroundings and perhaps make a lonely person feel wanted, a sad person feel happy or a poor person enriched with your compassion. Identify your gift and the purpose God has laid out for you, and join in the parade and shine your light. Instill this blessing in your children for they need to know they can count on the good lord too. They need to know they too are a true gift to our community, get them involved so they can shine their loving light.
Many comments came during the ceremony regarding my gift to sing and how they enjoy listening to my voice. I’m sorry to say that for the first time in several years, Crash Cadillac will not be performing for the Angola Gazebo Summer Concert Series. The Gazebo Committee decided to go another route, and I will surely miss the smiling faces in our community. Although I will truly miss the Village of Angola, I am excited to be singing in our surrounding communities, Evans, Brant and Farnham and I hope to see your smiling faces.

Mr. Pinto was a US Army veteran of t he Korean War from 1952-1954 and worked for 40 plus years as a part time police officer and court bailiff for the towns of Evans and Brant.

When Adam and Eve sinned and hid from God their lives began to unravel. God came looking for them and found them. There was a reconciliation with God and they went on to have sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). Church is good for a marriage as we point people to God.

Application for Absentee Ballot Information
The District Clerk will automatically mail an Absentee Ballot to each voter whose registration record on file with the county board of elections is marked “permanently disabled”. All other voters must submit an application prior to obtaining an absentee ballot.
An Application for Absentee Ballot will be available in the District Clerk’s Office beginning Tuesday, April 10, 2018 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The District Clerk’s Office is located in the Lake Shore Sr. High School at 959 Beach Road, Angola, NY.
The Application for Absentee Ballot must be received by the District Clerk at least 7 days before (May 8, 2018) the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.
Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election (May 15, 2018).

Town of Evans Easter Event
On Saturday March 24th, the Easter Bunny hopped down to The Evans Town Park and hid eggs filled with candy - some even a golden ticket for children to find. There was also a jellybean counting contest and a peep counting contest. This event was a great success.

Although Arbor Day was officially celebrated on April 25th of 1969, according to notes on the back of the photo, the Farnham Boy Scouts ceremoniously honored the day by planting a few trees on the Farnham school property on April 5,1969. The Farnham School was located kitty-corner from the Farnham water tower at Erie Road and Commercial Street, Farnham, N.Y. The school, also referred to as Brant District #5, was closed in 1976 and the building demolished in 2007. These trees remained standing, providing shade to the neighboring St. Anthony’s parking lot, until a Dollar General Store was built on the empty school lot in 2013.

The Quest for the Oldest Tree in the Town of Brant
The Brant-Farnham Historical Society has been on a mission to locate the oldest tree within our town boundaries. We have received information on eleven trees thus far, but we know there are plenty more chubby trees out there! Of the eleven there are four trees, each possibly over 200 years old! We had set a deadline of March 25th to coincide with the 179th Anniversary of our Town, but we do not have a final answer yet (we still need to visit and verify). Our true purpose is to discover the tree that we can best estimate as “the oldest” by using the circumference in inches, divided by 3.14 and multiplied by the tree type growth factor. It has been so exciting to see the submissions! Don’t lose heart - we will have more updates regarding this soon. When giving driving directions, we all know that trees can sometimes be used as landmarks - but, did you know that trees were once used as descriptive details in road records for the Town of Brant during the mid 1800’s? A few years back, the Evans Historical Society donated a book to our historical society titled “Legal Width of Roads, Town of Brant, Erie Co., N.Y.” It was compiled in 1938 as a WPA project out of Buffalo, N.Y. and includes the earliest surveys of our town of Brant roads - some dating back to 1800! Inside this book on page 11, we discovered the following survey describing the portion of Brant-North Collins Road from the Brant town line in North Collins to Versailles Plank Road. This road survey includes three (3) trees in the details! (Note: We did not correct the grammar or spelling): “Brant, June 22, 1855: Survey of Brant - North Collins Road: Resurvay of Rode leding from Kerr Korners to hamburg and Versails Plank road beginning on the west line of the town of Collins near Kerr Corners and 45 link S. 7 ½ E. from a maple tree standing near the NW Corner of land oned by Amos doll thence 81 ½ degrees West 8 chains 11 links thence N 88 west 48 Chains to a Stake at the distance of 86 links W 46 ½ E from a maple tree Standing in the S.W. corner of I Stedwells door yard thence N 89 ½ degrees W 14 chains 64 links to a Stake Standing at the distance of 43 links N 2 degrees E from a Cherry tree in the S.E. corner of A m Hawleys door yard… Surveyor : Peter F. Barker, Commissioners of Roads: N. Shearman, W.P. Hussey and J. Horton”
