New Pastor Installed
Sunday, May 22nd, the Rev. Jeffery Swords Was installed as the 9th Pastor in the 75 year history of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Angola. Pastor Swords was ordained on May 15th in St. Catherines, Ontario.
He was born 1962 in Welland, Ontario. He and His wife Karen have two adult children along with two grandchildren.
After 30 years in transportation, Pastor Swords was called by God into the Holy Ministry. After graduating from Concordia Seminary, St. Catherines in 2013 he deferred his placement until last year when he received the call to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Gold St. After almost one year he received his R1 Visa.
He has ministry experience with Lamp (Lutheran Association Of Missionary Pilots, Clinical Pastoral Ministry and as a teacher’s Assistance during a theological Teaching trip in Cambodia and Thailand.

Lake Shore Elementary Music Programs Perform at Fantasy Island Music Festival
On Sunday, May 22nd, students from the Lake Shore Elementary bands, orchestras and choirs performed at the 19th Annual Fantasy Island Music Festival. Under the direction of Mrs. Lynn Streeter, Mrs. Holly Martin and Mr. Nicholas Capitummino, the students performed several selections for a judge who offered positive feedback for the students.
The judges offered high praise for each group both on their performances and on their outstanding stage presence. Each group was presented with a plaque to commemorate their experience. The students were then able to enjoy the rest of the day in the park with their family and friends. Everyone had a great time!

Middle School Music Program Earns Top Honors at Local Music Festival
Recently, students of the Lake Shore Middle School Music Department journeyed to participated in the Darien Lake Music Festival in Darien, NY. Members of the eighth grade band, eighth grade orchestra and the seventh grade chorus competed against other schools from all over the Western New York, performing for a panel of judges and receiving a graded score.
Overall, the groups were highly successful. The chorus directed by Mrs. Anna Agro placed fourth, the orchestra directed by Mr. Paul Sieierski placed third, and the band under the direction of Ms. Jen Meyer took first place.

Students in Miss Cassi Johnson's Grade 3 class celebrated May Crowning. In honoring the Virgin Mary as "the Queen of May", the children placed a crown of roses on Mary's head. After the ceremony, the children received their 1st bible and then had little reception with their families in the community room. Students across the Lake Shore Central School District participated in community service events on May 19th as part of the first Day of Giving. Senior High study halls sponsored a car wash, with funds donated to the Family Support Center. Middle School Art classes designed place mats for local Meals on Wheels participants.
Elementary and Pre-K students decorated over 1,000 grocery bags for Erie Road Tops Market. Students across the district enjoyed reaching out to connect with the community. Special Thanks go out to Tops store manager Mr. Dave Shean, and Meals on Wheels coordinator at Frist Congregational Church, Mrs. Pat Vogan!
