I would like to say, thank you, thank you, thank you to all my dear customers from 1980-2016, 36 years, wow! My wonderful father, Daniel Paradiso Sr. taught me so many lessons in life. He planted the seed.

He said, “Treat everyone the same, talk with them, listen, try to make them laugh, and call them by name. To me, that is family and that is how I truly feel about all of you. I have decided to take a leap of faith and move to Hilo, Hawaii to live with my sister. I look forward to a new chapter and many adventures.

Learning Rhythm is Easy

Lake Shore District Technology Integrator Michael Drezek was Contributed by SS. Peter & Paul recently named the New York State Association for Computers __________ and Technologies (NYSCATE) in Education 2016 Outstanding Teacher.

Drezek, who has worked at Lake Shore for the past 12 years, has spent the past two working closely with both the Information Technology and Curriculum and Instruction Departments to integrate technology into classrooms across all five campuses.

In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, he also leads the Middle School Computer Science Club.

“Winning this award is a great achievement in my career,” said Drezek. “Our students are incorporating the latest technology in many of their classes, and I look forward to going to work each day and helping them make the most of it. It’s a great honor to be recognized by NYSCATE.” NYSCATE is an organization of over 20,000 technology-using educators and administrators in New York State committed to transforming teaching and learning. Drezek was formally honored at their annual convention held in Rochester, New York this past November.

Southtowns Catholic School 2nd Place Robotic Win

Students in the Robotics Club at Southtowns Catholic School competed in the X-STREAM Games & Expo on December 4th.

X-Stream was held at St. Joe's in Kenmore. With extremely tough competition from all the Catholic School within the Buffalo Diocese, SCS tied for 2nd place. Robotics is part of STREAM (science, Technology, Re;legion, Engineering and Math). The Robots were created by iDesign Solutions, this program teaches students to design, construct and program their own robot while gaining valuable teamwork and problem solving skills. A.J. Schmidt Elementary Students Put on Jingle Bell Jukebox Musical

Southtowns Catholic School Rockin' Rollercoaster Academy

Students in grades 5-8 participated in the Rockin' Rollercoaster Academy. They learned about the physics that make Roller coasters a wild and crazy ride. Students had to construct their own roller coaster using materials provided to them like PVC insulation piping, cardboard, duct tape, and masking tape.

There were certain specifications for the coasters like each one had to have at least one hill other than the initial drop, a loop, and a turn. The objective was to be able to run their coaster with a marble all the way through. Pictured: Tyler Mancuso demonstrating his roller coaster to Bishop Malone.

For three days in December, grade students from A.J. Schmidt, under the direction of Mrs. Holly Martin, presented the musical “Jingle Bell Jukebox…the Flip Side!” The musical centers on a 1950’s-style diner with a rocking jukebox serving up all the holiday hits.

The students sang traditional holiday songs and dressed in poodle skirts, leather jackets and plenty of holiday flare. The school’s principal, Mrs. Clark, made a cameo appearance, much to the student’s and audience’s delight. The props were provided by the art teacher, Mr. Ruffino, and included a jukebox which lit up and had a motorized CD topper.

It was an exciting performance which really helped to ring in the holidays at A.J. Schmidt. Congratulations to all who had a part in making the production such a success.

When Itsy finally met Bitsy, it was love at first sight. His heart was filled with glee! But, Itsy had to shop and prepare his home for Bitsy! Lake Shore Senior High Student Government Attends State Leadership Conference

Lake Shore High School’s Student Government had the opportunity to travel to the Catskills for this year’s New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities Conference.

During the conference, Student Government members were able to share ideas, network, and learn skills necessary for being a student and school leader.

At the conference, Lake Shore was presented the 2016 State Charity Award for their efforts in raising money for the state charity, the Epilepsy Foundation. Student Government hosted the annual Dodgeball Tournament and Seniors in Demand to raise money for the foundation. In conjunction with these events, Lake Shore was named to the NYS CLSA Honor Council because of their continuous hard work and efforts to serve the community and school.
