Joan M. Houston (nee Mertzlufft) of Angola, NY passed away peacefully in her home September 3, 2025. Joan was born in Buffalo, NY, July 18, 1930 to the late Joseph and Adeline Mertzlufft. She recently celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends, reflecting on a full and independent life. Joan was a former social studies teacher with the Lake Shore Central Schools and a proud and active member of her community and church. Joan is the wife of the Late William G. Houston; loving mother of Linda Houston, Lori Houston-Greene and Lee Houston; grandmother of Corrinne Greene; sister of Rev. Paul (Winifred) Mertzlufft and the late Ronald (Judith) Mertzlufft. Family was present to receive friends Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Addison Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Services were held Monday, September 8, 2025 in the First Congregational UCC, Angola, NY. Memorials may be made to either the First Congregational Church or a charity of your choice.
David Daniel Paradiso, 51 years old of Buffalo, NY formerly of North Collins, NY unexpectedly died on September 2, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Daniel & Sandra Paradiso, loved husband of Ann Marie Paradiso-Ghani, proud father of David, Neveah, Isaiah, Kloe & Joshua, dear step-father to Hannah, and cherished brother of Wendy, Crisha, Laurie, Denise and the late Daniel Paradiso. David had a strong desire to build, fix things and help people. In childhood he built forts, fixed bicycles and helped anyone. He had a kind heart and gentle soul. His skills and dedication grew into a career as a skilled mechanic, builder, and HVAC contractor. He was sought out by friends, family, and strangers to fix and repair things. This reputation earned him the nickname “Fix It Dave”. David was a hard worker and practiced a strong belief to be better. His own motto was to gain knowledge and wisdom all the days of your life - and be more. If asked what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would tell you his children. They are his greatest legacy and he loved them dearly. David loved riding his motorcycle, spending time with family, friends and his animals. He will be missed by his large extended family, his friends, and his coworkers.

Peter S. Muscarella of Farnham, NY entered into rest on September 8, 2025. Beloved husband of Denise (Blakely) Muscarella; dear father of Sheri (Larry Orcutt), Peter J. (Peggy) and Chris (Christina) Muscarella; grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother of Diana (John) Potts. Survived by nieces and nephews. Peter was born to Salvatore and Ruth (Glasier) Muscarella of Farnham , NY. Pete and his wife lived in his childhood home in Farnham, NY until his death. Pete began a career at the South Buffalo Railway on June 22, 1970 until he was drafted to the Army in April of 1972 and served his country until December of 1977. He returned to work for South Buffalo Railway in 1975 until he was laid off in 1983 when Bethlehem’s Blast Furnace shut down for two years. During that time he worked for Delaware and Hudson Railway and worked in construction until he returned to SBR in 1988. In 2001 SBR was acquired by Genesee and Wyoming Railroad where he retired as a welder on April 30, 2012. His best highlight was being a part of the safety record that the NY/RA Region has accomplished, a career Injury Free in the Railroad Industry. Pete’s hobbies included hunting and fishing. He also loved to cook, his signature dish was tripe, “with sauce not gravy, because I’m Sicilian”. A graveside service with Military Honors was held September 12, 2025 at St. Anthony's Cemetery Farnham, NY.
