Memorial Day Preparations at the Brant Cemetery
The Brant Cemetery board members, stopped for a quick photo, but had been hard at work preparing for the MEMORIAL DAY weekend in 2024 and will be doing so again late May 2025. The committee has a definite routine for sweeping off the gravestones, preparing the potting soil and planting the urns, however, the most important task of the day is placing the AMERICAN flags at the graves of all our Veterans.
Shown in the photo (L-R) gathered around our CIVIL WAR CANNON are John Grennell, Chet Kozlowski, and Bill and Lynette Ellison. Kneeling is Mark Winters, who is the leader that keeps us all on track and moving to get the job done! There to help, but camera shy:
Barbara Kozlowski and photographer Patty Friend.

Angola's Zachary Barney Graduates From College of the Holy Cross
Zachary Barney of Angola received a bachelor of arts degree from College of the Holy Cross. Barney is among 733 bachelor of arts degree recipients Holy Cross celebrated at its 179th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 23 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Dr. Linda LeMura, president of Le Moyne College and the first female layperson to be named president of a Jesuit institution of higher education in the United States delivered this year's address to the Class of 2025 and received an honorary degree.
In her remarks, LeMura emphasized that the goal of a Jesuit-and specifically a Holy Cross-education is to unite two identities: the dreamer and the doer, following the example of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

"Graduates, my wish for you-today, and every day-is that you will hold tight to your skills and to your dreams," said LeMura. "Treasure them both. Your dreams will inspire your work, and your work will inspire your dreams. Never let go of the whimsical, poetical, visionary dreamer that lives in each and every one of you."
In addition to LeMura, Holy Cross also awarded an honorary degree to Sister Barbara Rogers, RSCJ, a longtime leader of the Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. Contributed by College of the Holy Cross
Megan Zakeri Inducted Into Baldwin Wallace University's Elite Dayton C. Miller Honor Society
Megan Zakeri of Lake View stands among a distinguished group of students at Baldwin Wallace University who reached BW's pinnacle of academic achievement with induction into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society. Zakeri, a graduate of Frontier Senior High School majoring in music education, was honored with membership that is achieved by only 4% of the undergraduate student body.
Baldwin Wallace University recognizes and rewards student achievement in and out of the classroom in numerous ways, but the deep roots and time-honored traditions of the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society date back to the fall of 1948.
The Society's purpose is to recognize academic excellence. Members are selected for consistently maintaining superior academic work. Students inducted into the Society each year represent the top 100 students by grade point average who have earned a minimum of 70 semester hours with at least 32 semester hours at BW.
Society membership not only honors present students but also the memory of Dayton Clarence Miller, who graduated in 1886.
Miller was an American physicist, astronomer, acoustician and accomplished amateur flautist. His love of music and passion for science led to groundbreaking work with sound waves, as well as the world's largest collection of flutes, now housed in the Library of Congress.
Just a few years ago, a musical instrument curator from the Library of Congress spent time at BW to gather information and insights for a biography on the renowned BW alumnus and scientist.
