A STAR IN THE MAKING
Georgiana Molloy Anglican School’s filmmaking prodigy, Year 12 student Poppy Treloar has been named the winner of the CineFestOZ Cinesnaps Short Film Competition with her short film, Sand Box.
The annual competition encourages young, aspiring filmmakers from South West schools to create and showcase original short films of 3-5 minutes.
This year participants were invited to create a short film exploring the theme, Suitcase.
Poppy’s entry was one of several films shortlisted and judged by a panel of high-profile, Australian film industry professionals including actor Myles Pollard, casting director Annie Murtagh-Monks and producer Kate Separovich.
Sand Box shows the psychological struggle of the protagonist as she is conflicted with her past and present self, portraying the intense emotions of agoraphobia.
Poppy said after the awards: “It’s a pretty big deal, it’s really awesome. Not only is it another thing to add to my university resume, but it’s also really cool to say that I’ve done this, particularly before graduating.” GEORGIANA MOLLOY ANGLICAN SCHOOL
