Anglesea Art Space

Details below supplied by Surf Coast Shire Council Arts Officer, Harriet Gaffney In the wake of Council’s draft budget that set aside funding for the continuation of the Art Space beyond 30 June 2021 – and in recognition of the love held by the Anglesea community for the Art Space – Council has adopted Anglesea Art Space as the new name for the facility.

Shire wide, Anglesea Art Space plays a vital role as an incubator for new artists embarking on their exhibiting journey in a small, supported venue, and as a local venue for more experienced artists.

See the full conditions of use on Council’s website at www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au, and keep an eye on Surf Coast Art Matters, the Council’s arts and culture social media channel, or the A rt Matters e-news.

Artists will continue to be mentored through the full requirements of their exhibition with the support of Council’s Anglesea Art Space Coordinator and the Arts Development Officer. From the Expression of Interest (EOI) process, which develops artist skills in articulating and documenting their work, through to the skills gained in the production and installation of exhibitions, sales, marketing and promotions, this program supports artists through the exhibition journey.

The Arts Officer is now programming June–November shows from those exhibitions that were unable to go ahead last year due to COVID (with a few exciting additions!).

EOI’s open on Friday June 25 for exhibitions from 12 November to 30 June 2022. Assessed by a panel, the EOI process ensures equity of access to the Space for all members of the community and takes into account diversity of practice, access and inclusion, as well as the number of weeks in the year and the numbers of applications!
