PUBLICATION OF THE ANGLESEA COMMUNITY HOUSE
ISSUE 137 AUTUMN 2019
Geo and Jan Francis at the ‘moongate’ entry into their property and studio.
From Humble Beginnings ... By Liz Clark
What a treat it was to spend time in the company of Jan and Geo Francis as they proudly discussed their life and work, the joys and challenges, the ups and downs of life as artists. They are both extremely generous with their time and expertise. As well as allowing me to stick my nose into their studios, sheds and garden to see just a little of how they combine life and art, they delight in all they do and humbly accept accolades from around the world for their wonderful achievements. Community Houses are for Everyone
In the early ‘70s, Geo worked for Alcoa in Geelong and Jan was an at-home mum with the first of her four children, Cinnamon. Life was simple and relatively uncomplicated. A friend suggested Jan should go to a pottery class with her, so she did.
