Last year, Anglesea local Tania Orlov and her friend Ruth, from Freshwater Creek, embarked on an endurance horse ride that trailed the Howqua River in Victoria.
Highlights
Tania had bequeathed a horse to the owner of ‘True Blue Horse Rides’ at Merrijig and was invited to partake in the two-day ride, covering long distances and camping in swags overnight. This was the setting for the film The Man from Snowy River.
and, earlier this year, they participated in the Gobi Desert Cup in Mongolia.

This is an endurance horse race over six days, during which participants race on pure-bred Mongolian horses that stand at about 14 hands high and have enormous capacity to endure the harsh sandy conditions at their pace.
