THE SUN MEETING One morning, the sun called all the planets for a meeting. It wanted to introduce them and get to know each other better… SUN: Good morning, dear planets, I call you because I would like to introduce yourselves. All of you go around me, as I am the centre of the Solar System. So, who is the first one to speak? MERCURY: I speak the first! I am Mercury, the Sun calls me Hugs, because I am the only one who “hugs the Sun”. I take 88 days to go around the Sun because I enjoy its heat!! SUN: Yes, my second smallest one, that’s true! Who’s next? VENUS: I am! I am the hottest one. My temperature goes up to 477ºC. I take 225 days to go round you, my dear sun. SUN: That’s right! You are the most brilliant! Next? EARTH: I am the Earth. I am the most special planet, because I carry lots and lots of creatures. I also have a big moon for myself! SUN: This is true, you are very special. Who is the next? MARS: Me, me, me. I am Mars. I am the Red Planet, I am dry and cold. Brrrr… I am not alone; I have small satellites that go around with me. It takes us 687 days to go round. SUN: I like your colour Mars, but you are very lazy. Who is the next, please?
