TThis Cheadle Hulme postcard view was taken in the 1940s. The view was taken looking up Station Road from Albert Road and in the distance, you can see the Cheadle and Gatley Electricity showrooms.

To the left, through the trees is Mayfield Terrace, a group of large Victorian mansions which housed one of the village’s medical practices.

To the right you can see another large property and I have been told that the occupier’s young daughter in the early 1950s would regularly call through the garden hedge asking people where they were going! There appear to be Belisha beacons to either side of the road denoting a crossing point – what a change from today’s phased traffic lights controlling all manner of vehicles.
