Jubilee Weekend

Cllr Hartley and I recently funded new trees for local primary schools, called ‘trees for the jubilee’, including Goodrich Primary and St Anthony’s. It was a pleasure to visit St Anthony’s before the Jubilee weekend and have a picture with students and the new trees. The trees were funded by the council’s Cleaner Greener Safer fund:

Save the Number 12!

Last month we have had the awful news that cuts to Transport for London’s budget could lead to major cuts to our local bus services. We are campaigning against them. During the pandemic, Londoners did the right thing and stayed at home to save lives. But doing so decimated TfL’s finances because it is so reliant on fares revenue. Unlike other major cities like New York & Paris, London’s transport network does not receive substantial funding from central Government. TfL have set out their plans for how to deal with this funding shortfall. This involves cutting four routes in Southwark which include the 12, 45, 78 and 521 buses. Other routes such as the 343 will face partial cuts. Dulwich Hill residents will be particularly impacted by the number 12 bus, which is a vital bus for this area. The consultation closes on 12th July and you can complete the survey into the number 12 bus here:

Street Parties

It is always a pleasure to attend street parties every summer in Dulwich Hill. For the Jubilee Weekend, the council was able to support over 60 street parties all over the borough and granting permission for roads to be closed so that neighbours could socialise together safely. I attended the street parties on Wood Vale and on Friern Road, and they were fantastic events. If you would like to put on a street party on your road in the future, then you can do so here:
