VENTILATION
Compact layout to maximize site area and allow space for future development. Parking and space for vehicular and bicycle circulation placed behind buildings to allow for unobstructed views of the site landscape.
South Facing façade to achieve solar gains during winter for heating and energy cost reduction. Heating buildings accounts for 25% of the UK’s energy demand and 15% of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. (Energy Research Partnership, 2016). Glare free sunlight on North Façade.
Westerly Winds for natural ventilation in summer Months. The predominant average hourly wind direction in Bristol is from the west throughout the year, with a fairly comfortable wind temperature. Bristol Climate, Weather By Month, Average Temperature (United Kingdom) - Weather Spark
COMMON SPACE Green outdoor space/break out area connecting all buildings and creating a common networking space for the Business Park.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
BIM & RISK DETECTION •
CDM 2015 Regulations were set during team meetings which led to the detection of potential risks that may arise during construction and the potential mitigation measures.
• BIM helped in implementing CDM rules through the 3D and 4D visualization and detecting residual risks. • For example, CDM document is done with the help of BIM models and risk evaluation of the building is faster (e.g, clash detection).

QUANTITY SURVEYING
Estimation of building cost: • GIFA ( Gross Internal floor area) • Cost/m2 of the required building Gross internal area is calculated by using Revit. However, cost/m2 is found by using different sources like BCIS , SPONS by AECOM 2019 and various case studies were also evaluated in order to find the cost/m2 of proposed building.
QUANTITY SURVEYING
• Using BCIS, three different case studies were selected. • All the values are rebased to date factor 1 Q 2022 and location factor southwest region. • average building cost/m2 = £ 1,670
• average building cost rebase= £ 816,240
Constituents of an order of estimate
Doors
Quantity Take off •For calculation of quantities and scheduling of different assets used in project like doors and windows Revit 2022 was used. •Other software that can be use is Itwo COST X.

THE CHALLENGES
DESIGN
MANAGEMENT
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Working with an undulating site topography
Managing diverse views on a relatively big group
BIM 360 wasn't working for some team members
Keeping balance between social and environmental sustainability
Risk identification at each stage, especially at the construction stage
Running 5D simulation and integrating cost
THE RECOMMENDATIONS Introduction of renewable energy
1
sources for building operation photovoltaic solar Panels, ground source heat pump.
2
Engage facilities management early within the BIM process.
Continuous development of BIM
3
technical skills is very crucial for projects’ success.
The adoption of MMC methods
4
and strategies could significantly contribute to UKGBC Zero Carbon 2050.
