The CADROOM mentioned that to improve the operational efficiencies of the project team, project managers should use BIM as a tool for better communication and collaboration on projects. Project managers might take advantage of this occasion to offer strategic guidance on the organization's overall change. As a result, project managers must play a prominent role in the BIM debate, ensuring that their roles and methods evolve in tandem with industry-wide changes. As a result, they must stay abreast of new developments in BIM and construction to ensure that their knowledge and skills remain current.

CLASH DETECTION Advantages of BIM Clash Detection & Resolution
Accurate Engineering Design Documentation
Fewer Iterations during the Construction Phase
Better Coordination & Collaboration
Automatic Clash & Conflict Resolution
Architectural + M.E.P model
Federated Model
Steps to create Clash Report Using Navisworks
Hard Clash
Uploading the existing design models into the Navisworks software. separate models are merged in a single model for the further clash detection process
Choose any two category and run the clash detection The system gives us all the potential clash between those models with status details, description and condition Once we generate the clash report by clicking on the “Write Report”, it generates a detailed report
Soft Clash
Clash Report
Challenges of clash detection Creating issue in BIM 360
Assigning to the designer Lack of coordination
Lack of details in the model
Software error
Linking the model
Workplace/4D Clash Workflow or 4D Clashes involve clashes of contractor scheduling, equipment and material delivery and general workflow timeline conflicts

Green BIM Sustainable Design
BIM based Building performance analysis for Sustainability Assessment Building information modelling (BIM) is a collaborative working process using digital models to support virtual design and construction (VDC) which can streamline project delivery workflow and improve building performance. The use of BIM to provide data for energy performance evaluation and sustainability assessment is known as Green BIM.

Our Plan to achieve BREEAM According to BREEAM International New Construction 2016 scheme
Achieving Green attributes using Analysis & Simulation By… • Changing location, position of the building for less energy consumption. • Try to use green materials for sustainable results ( materials which helps to reduce maintenance an operation costs). • Analysing it to know environmental impact. • Using materials that helps to reduce maintenance an operation costs.

Exporting Data BIM Modelling Design created in Revit
Quantity Take - Off
Following Data Export
Quantities of each element were taken off using the schedule function in Revit
Once the areas were known, a rate can be applied to the quantities to show total cost

Costing Exporting Data
Spons gives examples of rates used in previous projects that can be applied to the cost plan
Formal Cost Plan 1 • Cost plan produced based on metreage rates from similar projects and the GIFA of the support hub
Formal Cost Plan 2 • A second cost plan is produced using the detail of the design and measuring each element of the building to produce a more accurate cost plan
Material Costs • ASHCRETE
Ashcrete is being used in our project to replace cement. As discussed earlier, it is more environmentally friendly but this is not the only advantage. It is also more cost efficient to make as it is a byproduct of coal combustion, therefore cheaper than traditional cement or concrete.
• CONCRETE WALL LINING
The concrete wall lining system provides a cost saving to the project, as these panels can be pre-fabricated off site. As well as being cheaper to manufacture off-site, this also reduces the programme time, reducing costs further.
Traditional v BIM Traditional
BIM
• QS is able to gain a better understanding due to a more hands on approach • Familiar process
• • • •
• Items may be missed from pricing • Re-pricing amendments is time consuming • More labour intensive
• Training to use BIM, especially for smaller companies that may not have used it before • Initial difficulty with setting up the new technology
Consistency of information Life cycle costing is a possibility Time efficient Take off's can easily be altered as the design changes meaning less time consuming for the QS
Cost Team Challenges • 8 weeks gave us little time to learn the new processes. For example, before any costing could be done, the take-off process through REVIT had to be learnt. • If the design was changed multiple times it was difficult to keep up with costing the amount of design changes. • In conclusion, I don't believe BIM's advantages currently outweigh the disadvantages, but they may in the future.
• Only the minority of companies would be familiar with BIM at this moment in time and we are still at the very beginning of the transitional phase from traditional working into BIM.
Risk Assessment BIM (building information modelling) technology has a lot of promise to become a standard in the construction sector. However, the process of introducing new technology is fraught with difficulties, and the performance of new technology might be harmed when unknown risk factors are present. BIM users can execute early reactions to potential hazards if they have a thorough awareness of the risk elements, increasing the likelihood that BIM will be deployed successfully as discussed by Kuo-Feng Chien et al, (2014).
Challenges The following are the challenges the Project Management Team encounter doing the BIM project ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪
Clash of Responsibilities Lack of communication Inadequate skills of Team members Unrealistic deadline Lack of clear scope of work among the BIM team members Lack of Proper Budgeting
Solutions Ways the Project Management Team was able to solve the problems are. ▪ Frequently monitoring of deadline by the Project Managers ▪ Regular Project Coordination meetings ▪ Proper budgeting procedure and making realistic assumption to avoid cost over run
