END OF AN ERA - THE START OF A NEW ONE
Blues drew 2-2 with Bristol City at St Andrew’s on April 16, 1994 which was the last day of standing on The Kop. At the end of the game Blues fans lingered and reminisced With Barry Fry in charge we were relegated then got promoted with a day out at Wembley.
THE PLAY-OFF YEARS
A traumatic 5 years, we missed out on goal difference in 1998 and the following year went out on penalties to Watford - Chris Holland wearing 13 missed the vital kick. in 2000 went out 5-2 on aggregate to Barnsley.
2001 was the drama of the 2nd leg at Preston, with the teams level at 2-2 after both legs it was penalty time. TF argued with Referee Paul Danson threatening to take the Blues players off the pitch after he decided to take them in front the massed ranks of Preston fans and not at the empty end of the stadium. We went on to loose 4-2 on penalties.
The following year was Millwall and Stern John sent us to Cardiff with a last minute winner. Then onto Cardiff and the Darren Carter momentabove.
2001 WORTHINGTON CUP FINAL
More penalty shootout heartbreak after taking Liverpool all the way, following a 90th minute Darren Purse penalty. After which referee David Elleray denied us an obvious penalty when Stephane Henchoz dragged down Andrew Johnson. Who went on to miss the vital penalty in the shoot out.
The start of my photography journey following Blues and has certainly been filled with joys and sorrows
