A high flying career

Blake Briggs spent much of his life with his head in the clouds - literally.

Blake was a flying enthusiast and spent decades flying small planes for personal enjoyment.

He first got his pilot’s license in 1965 Over the following 10 years, he achieved his Instructor's Rating (eventually becoming a Flying Instructor at the Moncton Flying Club) as well as a Commercial Pilot and Instrument Rating to his licence

In addition to flying, he also owned a number planes over the years, including a Piper Tri-Pacer four-seater (which he used to fly his family from Moncton to Disney World in Florida) and his favourite, described as his pride and joy, a Cessna 172.

While flying was one of Blake’s greatest passions in life, he also had an accomplished career with CN. He started as an Assistant Surveyor, cutting bush to lay out survey lines for new tracks, and over the span of 35 years, was promoted to Construction Supervisor, Director of Service Strategies in Montreal and finally District Superintendent of Transportation for the Atlantic Provinces

Pictured above are some of Blake’s personal planes.
