UPDATE FROM PARK WEST

We asked. . .

our resident retired teachers what they enjoyed most about “back to school.”

I enjoyed the youngsters, they were just children in Grade 6 and 7 and I was in my early 20s at that time So, I enjoyed their company and most of them, most of the time, enjoyed their company with Mr Toews

- Raymond Toews

I just liked being with the kids and teaching I liked teaching The hardest thing was remembering who was who I don’t think I ever figured out a trick, (you) just get to know them

- Doreen Beagan

I loved it because I loved seeing the kids again and all the new grades.

- Mary Morrison

The first week with the kids I asked them to tell me their names and I wrote it down. By the end of the day, my goal was to remember all the kids in my classroom. I usually managed to do that.

- Sister Frances MacDougall

Every year seemed like the first day I ever taught, in a very good way. You always got new students and they were happy to be back and that made us happy.

- Joyce Dixon

Their youth, their energy and my determination to use what I had learned at teacher’s college

- Sister Alice Long
