NEW OPPORTUNITIES AND TEAM RECOGNITION Fall is here again. October is a transitional month - the world is bedding down and readying for winter. Historically, it’s a period of planning and preparing. We are very much in that mindset at Andrews these days. The expansion at Charlottetown is nearing completion and hiring has begun. I am happy to see so many internal applications for open positions. ACCREDITATION As I mentioned in my last message, we had our Accreditation designation changed to Accredited with Exemplary Standing. This is, of course, excellent news but it doesn’t mean our work is done. Maintaining the processes that got us here is where the rubber meets the road. Team Spotlight The Exceptional Care Award nominations opened a couple weeks ago. An email was sent out to all staff as well as the admin support in homes. The Andrews Award for Exceptional Care is established to formally recognize and honor outstanding team members who consistently exhibit Andrew’s core values of Care – we treat others with kindness, Teamwork – we are better together, and Experience – putting our residents and team members first, both in how they interact with other team members and how they treat residents and families. I encourage everyone who nominate a deserving team member. Click here to fill out an online nomination form. GOOD NEWS Congratulations to residents Olga Callbeck and Dot McIver at Andrews of Summerside for being featured on both CBC Compass and CBC National. The two shared their story, initially in our newsletter, about reconnecting after decades apart. It was a heartwarming story. You can watch CBC’s story here. HOLIDAYS The Christmas season is fast approaching. As part of our 40 th anniversary celebrations, we have decided to host one big Andrews Christmas party this year, instead of multiple smaller events. Details will be announced closer to the date and sign up sheets will be available in all our homes. I look forward to seeing you at the party on November 27th! Happy October and happy early Thanksgiving. Sincerely,
Mizan MISSION STATEMENT It is Andrews Senior Care's goal to respect the dignity and autonomy of our residents; to provide a safe and secure environment; to promote involvement of residents and their family by inviting input and feedback related to the care and services we provide; to value the leadership, expertise and contributions of our staff through empowerment that will lead to excellence in service.

Pretty well they had either cookies, candies, little treats. That was pretty well it. Some of them would throw a quarter. You’d remember that for next year! Earle Arsenault
We lived way out in the country so if we got a few chocolate bars we were pretty happy. Oh Henry, Sweet Marie. Linda Boyle
We got candy kisses and pop and chips. That’s what we got. Joanne MacLeod
Fudge. Brown sugar fudge. Everybody made it. Joan Doyle
We’d walk from one place to another. We’d go in and sit down and they’d have cookies and squares and sandwiches. And then they would give us treats. Candy and fudge. Iris Rogers
Kisses. Homemade candy. Homemade fudge. We just went to a few houses. It wasn’t a big thing like it is today. Eileen Clark
Taffy apples. The neighbours (made them.) That was my favourite. The taste. The crunch. I just liked them. Linda Simmons
My favourite Halloween treat was chocolate fudge. The neighbours made it. Shirley Flemming
