Andrews of Summerside’s long-term care residents have been doing regular bubbles in the courtyard while the weather has been warm. It’s a great opportunity to get outside and have some fun.
Andrews of Stratford residents recently had a marshmallow roast on the back patio. Everyone had fun making s’more’s and listening to music.
Residents at Andrews of Summerside took part in a game of pool noodle hockey recently. It’s a game activity director Annelize introduced over the past few mon ths that the residents absolutely adore playing. Residents at Andrews of Stratford take part in their annual pickling party.

What prompted you to start investigating the paranormal?
I have always been interested in the paranormal from as far back as I can remember
It was when I moved into my first haunted house that got me interested in investigating. My husband and I had bought our first home together in 2011 shortly after we were married Strange things began happening almost immediately Lights being turned on, dishes rattling, TV turning on and off There are many stories I could share but I will share just a few that really stick out in my mind. When we first moved in, we were in the process of repainting. My husband had gone outside and I hadn’t noticed at all as I was painting in a corner. When my husband came back into the house, he asked me who I was talking to I stared at him He informed that when he was outside, he heard what sounded like talking It was pretty creepy as we were the only two there
Another incident was a time I was folding laundry. My daughter was sitting on my bed when she suddenly hopped off the bed, ran down the hall and went into her room When she entered her room, I could hear her say, “oh hey!” I ran to her room terrified of who or what I was going to find I find my daughter, who was three at the time, looking out her window. She pointed to the water and told me Amy lives there. I asked who Amy was and where exactly does she live. My daughter then tells me Amy is her friend who visits and she lives in the water. With an awful feeling of pure terror, I tell my daughter Amy can no longer visit My daughter wanted to know why and I tell her because she makes the carpet all wet and we don’t want wet carpets. That was the last I heard her talk about Amy. I was curious and did my own research. It turned out a little girl had drowned in that river years before.
It was at this time I decided to call in a paranormal group to investigate my home The investigation took place and a few days later I received a phone call from the lead investigator that they have something to show me She told me they had captured audio evidence. In the audio, I heard the investigator ask, “what’s your name ” , and then a little voice say back, “I’m Scott.” I was floored. I then began tagging along on investigations, learning about the spirit world, and how to protect my self and those around me
How long have you been doing it for now?
I have been investigating for over 13 years now
Tell me about how Soul Patrol came to exist.
The Soul Patrol began when I felt I had gained enough experience and knowledge to branch out on my own with my own team.
What sort of preparation goes into an investigation?
When we prepare for an investigation, we meet with the property owner to go over any experiences that may be happening, where the hot spots may be and gather any information of the property
Once we have all the information we need, we set up a time for the actual investigation. When we head into an investigation, my team will gather for a smudge, to protect us of any negativity or harm After the investigation, we take what we had captured through audio, video and camera and comb through it all. When we go into an investigation, we are not going to find a ghost or spirit, we are going in to find the explanation as to why experiences may be happening even if the outcome necessarily isn’t due to a haunting.
What equipment, if any, is required for an investigation?
We take along a recorder for EVP evidence. EVP stands for electronic voice phenomenon. This allows us to hear beyond what the human ear can hear. EMF which is electro-magnetic field can gauge and detect charges in the air. Motion sensors which can pick up movement of any kind, video cameras, and picture cameras
What are most investigations like?
Most investigations are not what you see on TV. It can be quiet and calm and seem like nothing has happened until you go through all the data you collected and something odd pops out. The hours can be long. You can have something happen at the beginning of the investigation, and then nothing else happen
I have been gifted with the ability to communicate and see spirits When I enter into an investigation, I can feel something is lurking, which in my case is normal. I know the spirit is just holding back, curious about why I am there and what I am doing They may not reveal or make themselves known right away It is also very common for activity to increase after I have been at a location and I do make property owners aware of it as well An investigation is a lot of research, a lot of data to comb through, and it’s completely free of charge!
What are some locations in P.E.I. you've investigated?
There are so many locations we have investigated over the years. We have investigated the top five most haunted places in P.E.I., which are in order from on to five, the coast of Northumberland, the Yeo House, the Scotchfort Cemetery, the West Point Lighthouse and Holland Cove We have done a number of residential and businesses as well in P.E.I. including Dalvay by the Sea, Fairholm Inn, Baba’s Lounge, Cedar’s Eatery, Dooleys and many more.
What is the most convincing piece of evidence you've found?
There are so many convincing pieces of evidence it’s hard to choose, but one that really sticks out is when we were investigating a local business We were in the basement and I was standing in the doorway of a room taking a photo when I felt something on my back I asked one of my team members to take a photo of me. In the photo, I am standing completely still and you can see my hair being pushed aside. It was pretty cool.
What advice would you have for someone interested in becoming a paranormal investigator?
I think the biggest thing for me if I were to give any advice, be mindful and respectful, always. You don’t know who or what you may be dealing with Be thorough with your evidence Don’t assume
