UPDATE FROM ANDREWS

Dear family members and friends of Andrews Senior Care,

We had a wonderful summer at our homes

We held barbecues, family events, beach parties, Christmas in July, had fires (when it was allowed), had special visits from Venture Stables ponies, went on horse-drawn wagon rides and held exercise class outdoors.

With September here, we will be hosting a classic car show, making mustard pickles, hosting a resident art show (with pieces from resident artists from all our Andrews homes), as well as going apple picking, more family barbecues and getting ready for fall It’s going to be an amazing month!

I hope you had a great summer and wish you all an even better September!

Sincerely,

We asked. . .

our resident retired teachers what they enjoyed most about “back to school.”

I enjoyed the youngsters, they were just children in Grade 6 and 7 and I was in my early 20s at that time So, I enjoyed their company and most of them, most of the time, enjoyed their company with Mr Toews

- Raymond Toews

I just liked being with the kids and teaching I liked teaching The hardest thing was remembering who was who I don’t think I ever figured out a trick, (you) just get to know them

- Doreen Beagan

I loved it because I loved seeing the kids again and all the new grades.

- Mary Morrison

The first week with the kids I asked them to tell me their names and I wrote it down. By the end of the day, my goal was to remember all the kids in my classroom. I usually managed to do that.

- Sister Frances MacDougall

Every year seemed like the first day I ever taught, in a very good way. You always got new students and they were happy to be back and that made us happy.

- Joyce Dixon

Their youth, their energy and my determination to use what I had learned at teacher’s college

- Sister Alice Long
