Dear family members and friends of Andrews Senior Care,

We had a great September at our homes

We held a resident art show, with residents from all our homes contributing pieces, we hosted a classic car show, Oktoberfest celebrations, a pickling party and our last family bbq of the season!

This month, we will celebrate Thanksgiving, go apple picking, visit pumpkin patches, take part in pumpkin carving contests and host Halloween parties It’s going to be a fun October

We hope you all have a wonderful October Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely, Andrews Senior Care

‘It’s just been a nice treat to get people out and wind in their hair’

Bethan Davies loves to see people biking

Bethan is one of our volunteers from Bike Friendly Communities who takes residents out for rides on our trishaw (e-bike).

“It’s really nice to get people on bikes that either didn’t bike before or did bike avidly and miss it,” she said “Some folks don’t get a chance to go outside because walking, you have your walker, especially heading into cooler season, or even the hot season when it was warmer It’s just been a nice treat to get people out and wind in their hair ”

Bethan, a cyclist and cycling advocate, first started volunteering with Bike Friendly Communities as part of their Cycling Without Age program Approximately two months ago, she started volunteering with Andrews of Stratford, helping activity director Sharon WoodsBryenton by taking residents on rides weekday evenings.

“It was a partnership with Bike Friendly Communities,” she said “It was already an established partnership They were looking for a few people to pilot outside of the regular nine-to-five hours so I took advantage of my nine-to-five and come after ”

Residents love getting out on the bike and volunteers like Bethan enable more residents to take advantage of the e-bike by allowing for added sessions throughout the week

“It’s been amazing having Bethan take our residents out,” said Sharon “Bike Friendly Communities is a wonderful organization and we are extremely grateful for the ongoing partnership with Andrews and for our wonderful volunteers ”

Currently, Bethan is one of two volunteers involved with the partnership A third volunteer is beginning training in the near future T O P H O N O U R S
