Dear family members and friends of Andrews Senior Care,
We had a great April at our homes
We celebrated Easter, enjoyed special meals, did our own spin on “Burger Love” for our residents. We also enjoyed wonderful performances by the Young at Heart Theatre (who performs for us every spring), tried drum fitness, hosted a Victorian Tea and started gardening!
This month we will celebrate Mother’s Day, go on a scenic drive to see the tulips, enjoy special meals and raise money for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s
As you may know, Andrews homes across the Island raise money throughout May for the Alzheimer’s Society of P.E.I. Any donations made via our fundraising team the Andrews Rockstars is matched dollarfor-dollar by Andrews. Our homes also host their own walks throughout May for residents to take part in.
Wishing you a great May, a happy Mother’s Day and a safe and relaxing Victoria Day weekend
Sincerely,
Andrews Senior Care

Every spring, our homes do their own celebration of all things burger for our residents. Our chefs and culinary teams work together to craft special burgers, sides and a fun dessert for our residents to enjoy This year ’ s burgers were amazing!

Andrews of Summerside recently started drum exercise! The class is part of Summerside’s ongoing fitness program and takes place every Monday Residents use drum sticks, beach balls and buckets and follow along with activity director Annelize as she leads them through a series of songs It’s a great way to get in some extra movement while incorporating music and in a group setting Residents are really enjoying it.

Spring is finally here and that means many of our residents have been busy getting plants ready for our gardens. Residents at Andrews of Charlottetown started in mid-April prepping flowers, veggies and herbs for the growing season Our residents love taking part in the gardening process every year It’s a great way to socialize and spend some time outdoors!

Andrews of Park West resident Brenda Pineau has a special connection to Andrews Senior Care – one that goes all the way back to the 1980’s.
Brenda, now 75, started working as an RCW at the original Andrews home on Brighton Road In those days Andrews was owned and operated by found Doreen Andrews and her brother Errol
Brenda remembers those days fondly.
“It wasn’t much different than now, ” she said “It was nice All the residents we had, they were very nice and they were happy there I enjoyed it very, very much ”
Brenda worked at the home for five years and got to experience doing a variety of tasks. “We did all the cooking and the laundry,” she said “We did everything ”
Brenda eventually went on to work as an RCW at other senior care homes However, four decades later, she is back at Andrews, this time as a resident and only a short 15-minute walk from the original home on Brighton Road
“It feels different,” she said “I never thought I’d be back It was pretty neat, it was ”
