During the Open Design Festival Cape Town 2016, pupils of the NGO organisation ‘Up for all’ explored for a week the Township Langa in Cape Town South Africa. The participants who had no background in design or visual communication developed themes and concepts referring to the neighbourhood, based on social issues, personal experiences and its visual language. The workshop aims to eager social change-makers within this community. Once sensitised to their social and cultural context, participants are encouraged to take an active and responsible role towards the complex urban environment they live in.
This project is made possible by the generous support from the Creative Industry Fund NL in the Netherlands.
