The building is about Women Empowerment. The residential part of the building is dedicated to single moms and their child that have been abused in their own home and decided to escape from it. It is an asylum, a temporary safe place for them to stay while studying at RMIT. The aim of this shelter is to support them to get back on track and be independent.

Since my building theme has to be associated with art and literature, I want to organize a gallery to exhibit paintings, poetry and other forms of art for those women who have financial issues.

At first, I wanted to put childcare and mini market for the retail space, but later I realized that it was off from the concept and I decided that I will change the idea into making child care to support service and mini market to op shop.

I started my collage from the bottom, with an image of the high-rise buildings from the Radiant City. I placed the RMIT University logo over the entirety of these buildings in an attempt to display to the audience how I see RMIT’s implementation of their logo all over the city. Jack Nicholson’s head from the infamous scene in the movie The Shining also appears in the logo to further the in-your-face mood.

The inclusion of a waterfall was very literal as I would like to have a massive water feature run over two levels of my building. This was part of the reason for having the Unite d' Habitation in my collage, as this building too utilizes double height ceilings.

The remote is a reminder that my building is on the tech strip, this means I need to incorporate some form of interesting technology into my building, hopefully making it somewhat visible from that strip.

The skateboarder and stairs are there as some kind of inspiration for the ground and basement levels. I want to keep these spaces as open and as community friendly as possible. This community aspect also applies to the clothesline in the top left corner, which I would like to include somewhere in my building. I decided it mightn’t be the best idea to place one on the rooftop due to the potential of thieves, however I did decide I’d like to have a community garden there which relates to the concept even better.

We have been empowered with a tool that can through the daily pretence and fake facade presented to us on an hourly basis. I want this particular architecture to be a language that expresses the pain, tortures, triumphs of a culture. For this building, I am exhuming the tragedies that befell the first peoples of Victoria and expressing them on a 25m structure.

The Wurrundjeri people taken from a rich sustainable culture to one where identity was lost is a displacement we can now relate to. Their journey is one worth reflecting on as it shows how we can adapt to become newer versions of ourselves, who maintain their roots and never lose their authenticity in a modern society.

The problem I wish to tackle then becomes the fact that we pretend like we haven't lost our own identities and instead rely heavily on the lifestyle mapped out for us by someone sitting in a fancy office who does not care about our basic needs. This is a university precinct, there is a chance to provoke the minds of our future generations, to expose them to the deeper possibilities that are hardly made apparent in our society today, and hope that people will become more aware, rather than puppets.

Building A3 will have an introspective look at ourselves as a collective and how we coexist with each other. A strong focus on both community and mindfulness will impact the final result from form through to materials and spaces. I hope to combine these elements in a pure almost stripped down fashion maximizing the functional parts of design.

The collection of spaces and elements will blend together to push my ideas of mindfulness in our daily lives. Though technology is booming during the 21st century, people still desire to feel connected via face to face interaction. Three levels in this building will help this come to fruitionÍž a meditation level, the other is pet amenity and the final being a rooftop community garden.

With a material and structural focus being CLT, an exposed natural feel will be achieved that should tie into the original ideas of community and mindfulness.

Though restricted, ambient light to the public spaces will be key in the design to this building.

The main purpose is to create a space have an appreciation of integration commerciality and sustainability. Plus, multiple functions in entertainment and commercial use in order to active the precinct.

The main theme of this building is art since the proposed site is located on the art and literature precinct. To match up with this , this building will contain ateliers , turn this space in to a stage of diverse art forms. The basement use as a maker market for artists to sell their products. A gallery on the upper floors provide an exhibition space for artists to covey their ideas and inspirations to the public. A small cocktail bar gives visitors a pleasant start of their tour.

As the owners in atelier are likely to live in a place close to their workplace, this building also have apartments that contain a studio . The top floor will be an restaurant that provide artistic and creative food. Rooftop cinema offer a relaxing space and after-work entertainments.

The inspiration of building form comes from a traditional Chinese silk ribbon dancing which the performer will hold two ribbon during performing. Through spinning the silk ribbon convey the emotion and spirit.

An evolution of Le Corbusier’s “Dom-Ino House” set in a “Radiant city” model.

Le Corbusier has be re-animated in to form of a Cyborg dressed in steam punk attire. In this cyborg hand is a Hexagonal hologram disk which is projecting the “Dom-Ino model”. Lebbeus Woods A-City: Sector 1576N, Quad 2NR, 1987” creates the background setting, chosen for its meaning of the high-technology being invisible, because it's already so miniaturised, and so compact, and so industrialised but still looking overall low tech, an idea I would like to explore.

In the bigger Gear bubble are the ideas and technologies I would like to investigate, CLT, ESD components and renewable energy within the bulb, the “le Modulor” diagram to explore the proportions in the floorplans and a Tree with circuit board pattern growing up it to signify the connection and integration of nature and technology working together. The middle gear has the Zen symbol, an added building in the back is the “Garden tower” in Switzerland chosen because of its shape and integration of plant life. In the sky is a steam punk Air ship, an idea I have often liked because it is purely an concept of the imagination and without that many of my favourite things would never have been created.

I decided to base my concept on the elements of nature because my lot is located directly in front of the open space in precinct 3. I wanted nature to be my concept because i wanted my building to blend in with the open space so to distil a sense of comfort and vibrancy in the area.

I mainly looked at the forms of trees and plants because i liked the idea of having biodiversity incorporated in my building.

In my concept research, i also included an image of a river because i liked the shape the river made with the foreground and that could be a possible idea for an outer facade.

I added an image of people in my collage because i wanted the space in front of my building to be thriving with people compared to a ghost town. Which is why I'm including a cafe on the ground floor of my building.

The other images of buildings i used were mainly because i liked the shape of them and i liked the way they look. For Example, I chose the Villa Savoye as an image because i like the concrete stilts that hold up the building and i maybe would like to incorporate that idea into my design.

My passion is to create something different and at the same time practical. I wanted to incorporate the geometry by using extrusion method and movement of forms into one.

Use of general cubic or rectangular shapes, minimal to no ornamentation will bring out that contemporary look, letting us know about the modern technology that building will provide in future.

I used children’s building blocks to indicate the space differences and inform community of its own services such are children’s 24/7 stay overnight facilities.

Technology location lane gave me the chance to include extra space for X ray services on the ground floor.

Medical centre is all about care, support and help by using the right materials we can show all them on the exterior face, capturing that sunlight and warmth to our building.

Ground floor would include large open spaces with waiting rooms and partly high ceilings to create a grand entrance. Going to a medical centre with all what it has to offer for outbound patients.

Organic Living I chose 'House & Garden' to feature my concept as I want to bring organic living, gardens and a family lifestyle to my building.

I'm about to be a mum for the first time and have been increasingly interested in creating a healthy and toxic free environment for my child - especially after doing research and finding out that there are approximately 80,000 more toxic chemicals in consumer products worldwide since I was born.

When designing my building I would like to choose materials that will support ESD, as well as provide plenty of outdoor space for the proposed residential apartments and childcare. This includes using recycled materials, balconies with herb planter boxes and a green roof with organic gardens.

I would also like to have an organic cafe on the ground floor to support my 'Health' themed lane, which is on the North side of the building and a 'Children's Early Learning Computer Lab', to support the 'Technology' themed lane on the opposite side of the building.

I will look at using wisteria vines and timber louvers as shading and plenty of glass throughout the facade to allow heat and light into the building.

I would like to keep the building style similar to RMIT's latest designs, as I want to support the client brief, however I also want to draw a light to the 'family' and 'health' divisions that I feel the university is currently missing.

The man’s face on the right – Jordan Peterson, whose way of thinking and view of the world is based on preserving standards but trying to break the rules and boundaries at the same time. Next, the red line that is leading through the 5 senses: hear, see, smell, taste, feel – meaning that the new site will use all of them to create a unique design.

The aboriginal map behind Peterson’s head was used to show the acknowledgement of Wurundjeri tribe original territory.

Reversed concrete stair running across the center of the poster symbolizes the 'domino look' of Corbusier's Radiant city, reflects new topography of the site.

Le Modulor in the background highlight the essential and important idea of proportioning in architecture.

The concept for the building on Lot. B1 was “movement�. Highlighting Le Corbusier as a precedent study architect having him paraded by Rafiki in a way the Lion King parades Simba in the Disney Movie. Standing on the Dom-ino building (In place of Pride Rock – as depicted in the movie) which again is a main precedent study and starting point to the design of the building structure.

The reasoning behind the idea of Lion King was to take away that not necessarily that picture alone but the use of film and arts is a big driver to making a building take shape.

Le Corbusier is being paraded to what seems to be a clone-like clan of people at the bottom of the page. This represents a different kind of movement within people, in that the precinct when it is built will be a community-based precinct that encourages to bring people together. In the background of all this imagery is an artists impression of Degraves Street one of many thriving laneways that Melbourne has to offer. This was placed in there to capture what can be used of small spaces between buildings as our Precinct the buildings are very tightly arranged.

A Couple of images that sit atop in the blacked-out section of the poster, represents a rooftop style city with ESD elements in which the building when thoughtfully designed will take these aspects on.

Also a collection of cogs that create movement along with some of the words of Thought/Creativity/Innovation/Idea/Vision which will be developed and researched more to come into the final look and functionality of the building.

A subtle Aboriginal flag is placed behind the head of Le Corbusier to pay respects to the land in which the precinct is being built on.

My design concept is to incorporate the blur between internal and external spaces, adding undercover external areas within the building, dividing internal spaces with outdoor areas and making a connection with the green roof on top of the building. My concept also incorporates technology and health, being based on the tech and health lane. Although I will be incorporating technology into my design, keeping modern elements in my building, I want to keep a human element to the building also, not to stray too far into technology but also keep the connection with our basic human needs, spaces to relax and connect with other people instead of our phones as technology causes a disconnect between us and our environment (to an extent).
