Inc.

Before 2022 kicks off in grand fashion, a couple of well-known law firms based in Providence have joined forces to provide greater options for their clients while celebrating a career milestone.

The Law Firm of Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein and Peirce recently purchased the East Providence located Law Office of Ronald Markoff in am effort to streamline services and be more proactive in helping the general public. The firm celebrated its 50th anniversary in business in 2021.

Attorneys Ronald Markoff, Karenann McLoughlin and Marc Gertsacov, along with five paralegal and administrative support staff will continue to maintain offices at 144 Medway Street in historic Wayland Square, now operating under the Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein & Peirce name.

“Over the years, our attorneys have had the privilege to work with The Law Offices of Ronald C. Markoff on real estate matters,” states RCFP Managing Shareholder Edward G. Avila, Esq. “We greatly admire and respect their integrity, work ethic, tenacity, and dedication to their clients, referral partners and staff. We welcome them enthusiastically to our commercial and residential Real Estate practice, and look forward to a mutually rewarding collaboration in serving our clients’ legal needs.”

Atty. Gertsacov, who currently serves as a Partner, said the announcement helps both firms because each has something to offer the other side.

“I started working with Ronald in 2003 because he is considered ‘The Dean of Titles’, and I was able to learn the craft from him. They primarily handle leaders while Ronald and our staff dealt with consumer clients. It became evident that our worlds would mesh well with one another because of there being little overlap.”

Additionally, merging the two firms enables them to not duplicate efforts. They won’t need two hire two bookkeepers to do that work, for instance. There will be more teamwork with the depth of attorneys they have on staff.

The Markoff team brings to RCFP a depth of experience in many kinds of real estate transactions including purchase, sale, refinance, title, and closings; settlement agent services; landlord and tenant issues; condominium law; corporate and probate matters; foreclosure; and district court litigation.

One thing that sets them apart from other law firms is their accessibility to clients. With 18 attorneys currently on staff, there is someone ready to work on a particular case or area of expertise. Plus, they are active with their clients, meaning everyone can get involved with a case, if the need presents itself.

Being able to forge personal and professional relationships has also benefitted the firms. It comes from having the mindset of a “win-win” situation with each side getting what they want and the attorneys working toward amicable decisions without being contentious.

Gertsacov said it’s a way to give customers the proper options to handle the problem or issue they have.

“We have nearly two-dozen attorneys who specialize on various topics within the law. So, when someone comes to us, we can refer the proper lawyer to handle their project. It’s all about teamwork and providing exceptional services at competitive prices.

“We are all working attorneys; we are not working in ivory towers. We work for the working class and possess the knowledge and experience to make Their hope for the upcoming year is attracting new clients. They intend on achieving their goal by getting the word out about this news and being more 21st century compatible. By that, holding virtual meetings on Zoom or other applications instead of in-person meetings. Hearings can also be done online as well. Also, attorneys may not need to walk to the courthouse to appear before the judge, keeping everyone safe during these unprecedented times. They can also make house calls.

“We have attorneys who live throughout the state. For those who either cannot drive into downtown Providence or the East Side, we can come to see them. That is another way we separate ourselves from other firms. We work to be as approachable to our clients as possible,” he said.
