African Drumming Class Packs from £1,277* African Drumming is an ideal group music making activity for schools from KS1 to KS4. Everyone is able to participate regardless of ability and it's often the “difficult” or “hard-to-reach” pupils who make the most startling progress. Drumming reaches the children other lessons fail to touch and the transformative power of music can be seen and felt very strongly in African Drumming classes. There are simple and advanced parts, and although relatively simple in its component parts, the music can be developed into exciting and rewarding performances.

The Gamelan sound, like the Indonesian culture it comes from, is vibrant, colourful and exotic.

The music is built up from relatively simple repeated patterns, making it easy to teach and to learn. Gamelan playing encourages careful listening, self-confidence and teamwork. African Drumming Add-on Pack

Originating in the country of Trinidad & Tobago, the Steel Pan is a culturally rich instrument providing lots of opportunity for cross curricular studies and also for performance and activities in the community. The Jumbie Steel Pan is smaller and less intimidating than full size pans and creates a well rounded musical experience for KS1-2.

Full size pans are available for KS3-4. Class packs assume 2 players per pan.

Caribbean Steel Pans Class Packs from £1,677*

African Drumming Level 2 Add-on Pack £567* For schools wanting to take their drumming to the next level, this pack includes Andy Gleadhill’s African Drumming Book 2, a set of 3 dundun drums, a balafon, bongos, a talking drum and African bells. The book introduces the new instruments and shows you how to incorporate African melodies into your drumming. Each of the six new tunes is graduated in difficulty to allow for musical progression but they also contain differentiated parts, so that all pupils can play in the ensembles, regardless of ability.

Indonesian Gamelan Class Packs from £1,267*

Samba playing is accessible to young players from KS2 upwards and will also be a natural development for older pupils at KS3 and KS4 who have played African Drums at KS2.

Samba is ideal for large group and mixed ability classes as simple and more complicated parts are played together to create the overall sound. Playing in a Samba ensemble is also an excellent platform for improvisation with plenty of opportunity for individual players to improvise around the Samba's core rhythms.
