MAJOR PROJECT | BYEGONES OF A NATION

STRATEGIC APPROACH | SUPERIMPOSITION

SUPERVISED BY ADAM PRUSTOLA | SEM 1 2019 FINAL YEAR THESIS This project aims to to celebrates the local consequences within Singapore’s built environment. It investigates ideas of

This proposition is creating a centre of localities. Creating a new “complex” of distinct local commercial conditions

preservation and identity and placemaking. The provocation of a true vernacular that looks at the immediate condition of

and phenomena. These acts of intervention each seek reintegration of citizens and newer immigrants in becoming

place. The conditions of the that contains the memories of the everyday, conventional and mundane. The vernacular relishes itself as past and present iterations of itself, staking

the true city room an ensemble of working class commercial urbanity. It hopes that this cross pollination of culture drives the displacement of migrant program into the vernacular

significant junctions in the perpetual urban development of the city through the megastructure.

spaces resulting in a transmutation of cultural activities.

SPATIAL PROPAGATION The juxtaposition of various vernacular typologies form various spatial combinations. Each intersection gives birth to spatial misalignments and mutations, forming new hierarchies and ensure the persistence of artefacts.

CONSERVED WITHIN What remains within the void of the original residential block is the inverted memory of the people park complex and its sky corridors along with the concrete columns that now support the new residential block

SPATIAL HYBRIDIZATION The Hawker center, The Market, The shop house, The Void deck, The bazaar and the HDB Block. These objects represent the true vernacular of Singapore. These objects come together in compliance with the grid negotiating the existing immigrant enclave of the people park complex. Each being key interventions of their own revealing moments of intersections, disconnect and connect, revelation and concealment.

STUDIO | POLITICAL LANDSCAPE SUPERVISED BY ADAM PRUSTOLA | SEM 2 2019 FINAL YEAR BACHELORS The studio interrogates the interaction between politics, media and the city. A series of architecture exploration and how it fits within the broader media landscape as a form of representation and debate ensues. The extent of influence opinion, power and representation has on architecture is deliberated and reflected upon. The end product manifesting itself as an urban forum in Melbourne’s parliament precinct

SECTIONAL PLAN This project investigates the relationship between the predominant regional party in the Nationals, The Australian news broadcasting corporation and the youth is investigated. The accumulation of a project that outwardly expresses the political agendas of the Nationals and through the disruption of a intermediary news outlet resolve itself into programs for the youth to forge the future. The dualities with the existing site are apparent, in which external presence of religion, conservation and entertainment are reflected within the project.

INTERROGATION/ INTERVENTION The interrogation of the regional presence in the city precinct by the National Broadcasting Network. The three different programs are re-appropriated by the youth through the activation of a public forum
