COVER LETTER Dear Sir or Madame, I am Andrei, an architectural designer with a Master Degree in Architecture and over 8 years post graduate design experience. After working as a Junior Architect in Europe for about 2 years I moved to Shanghai, China, where I have been practicing design and architecture for the 6 years. After that I came to Hong Kong where I have been working as a Senior Design Architect. The cultural and language barrier was something both challenging yet rewarding for me to overcome. I started taking Mandarin lessons and embracing some local habits and cultural elements, managing to make Shanghai my home for the time. There I got the chance to collaborate with 2 local companies, working for around 3 years with each of them. At first I was mainly working with large commercial & mix-use projects for the concept stage, but later got to move towards some smaller hospitality project and through more advanced stages. I also had the opportunity to work on interior design projects all the way to the detail design stage and even having a couple of them completed or under construction.
Still interested in deepening my knowledge, I also traveled to Cambridge, USA, and attend a series of Harvard GSD (Graduate School of Design) courses for 3 years in a row, courses about Hotel Project Development, Real Estate Fundamentals and Smart Buildings. Currently I’m looking for the next step in my Hong Kong career path. I truly believe that the lifestyle and working environment here are exactly what I’m looking for right now, and I’m confident that I will find here a great new team of professionals to join and grow together. Employment visa with current employer & HK ID card holder Available for face-to-face interview: immediately Available to start working: immediately (after paperwork is done) Thank you again for taking the time to go through my resume, and hope to hear from you soon! Regards, Andrew B

Citi PB Refurbishment Hong Kong | 2020
position|senior interior architect type |banking & finance phase |under construction area |1.000 m2
The refurbishment of this project, besides the general refresh of the finishes throughout the spate, implied also a couple of functional adjustments. Among them, redesigning & repositioning of the reception counter in the lift lobby, transforming a space into a welcome gallery with wall projections and adding the option of dividing the boardroom space into two separate rooms with individual functions. Extra attention was also given to seamlessly integrating the updated AV equipment into the new design. Responsibilities: design development team leader, project point of contact

Maker City Creative Space China, Ningbo | 2018
position|senior interior architect type |commercial & cultural phase |completed area |4.000 m2
The first stage of this project was in fact a competition. After we won it, we adjusted the design according to the client’s new requirements. We went for an industrial yet clean overall feeling, We kept the concrete as the dominant color and texture in the atrium, but despite this the general atmosphere in the space is quite warm and welcoming. This is mainly thanks to the inserts of red-tone colors and wood material, along with the warm yellow lighting used in the space, Responsibilities: concept design team leader, interior design, construction site visits

AIJIA Sales Office Design China, Danyang | 2017
position|senior interior architect type |commercial & cultural phase |completed area |2.000 m2
The main challenge of this project was the very tight deadline. It took 3 months from concept to completion. For the style, the client opted for modern with traditional elements. Even though this is not always an easy balance to achieve, we did our best to combine them throughout the many different types of spaces of the sales office and the client was very happy with the results. This kind of project are always fascinating to work on, as they combine the hospitality elements of the design with some very strict requirements regarding the health care regulations. The aesthetics are obviously an important element of the space, but they always have to follow the function, which in this type of projects it is given priority. Hongqiao New Office China, Shanghai| 2019
position|senior interior architect type |office phase |completed area |200 m2
The main challenge of this project was the budget allocated by the client. So we had to try to get the maximum effect out of the minimum money invested. Also, the customer didn’t want a classic design, but one more suitable for young employees. As a result, we played with the plaster color and some wallpapers on some walls in order to avoid the monotony of the space, and we combined the standard furniture with the custom made pieces. Stanley U-C Court Apartments Hong Kong| 2019
position|senior design architect type |residential & commercial phase |concept design area |1500mp
The client’s requirement for this refurbishment project was to create a residential landmark out of the existing building which is positioned on the Stanley Promenade and is highly impacting the local skyline. The scope of the project was to upgrade the design of the residential and commercial elevations, as well as the interior common areas (lift lobby and staircases). Our approach was to give the building a clean and modern look and to apply to it higher quality finishes. Another goal was to visually separate the commercial base of the building from the apartments tower and also to clearly mark the entrance to the residential ground floor lobby.

Vitraj Premium Lounge Europe, Romania | 2013 position|architect type |restaurant & bar phase |completed area |200mp
The project started with the beneficiary’s desire to create an extension for an existing pizzeria in the Gepex Park Complex in Bacau. Simultaneously a project was carried out for the parking, which has been for us an opportunity to create a dialogue between the two areas. The opening of the new building towards the green space was achieved by glazing on three sides. We opted for sliding doors that once opened it is created a strong bond between the interior of the building and the exterior setting.

Vanke Sales Office China, Changsha | 2014
position|architect type |office & commercial phase |completed area |6500 m2
The sales office always needs a special design to differentiate itself from the other buildings and be the main point of attraction in a new complex. In order to achieve that, we created a dynamic facade that catches everyone’s eye through the sharp cuts of the facade during the day. Also, during the night the building gets noticed through the special lighting effect created by the perforated boards on the facade.

It is always challenging to get creative within an architectural program that has really strict requirements. This is why we exercised our imagination for designing the common areas of the project which are a bit more flexible. We tried to create a more fun and dynamic space by playing with the different levels of the public area, the way we connect them, and the partial overhead space. Our task for this project was designing a number of villas and a hotel along the water front of a future flower park, as well as a chapel that could serve also as a F&B space. The requirements were for a mix of modern architecture with local traditional elements integrated into the design, and for a clean general image that would align perfectly with the investing company’s branding and identity. The site of the project is situated in Foshan, China, in an area with beautiful landscape, close to a lake and surrounded by green hills. The first challenge was to use the full potential of the site when designing the layout of the masterplan. We managed to do this by alternating main functions along the waterfront. This way, both the hotel and the commercial benefit from the direct relationship with the lake, and the mix of functions on the site create an even distribution of activities. The library’s design takes its roots from the local culture, and more specifically from the Daliang Village Complex, which is one of the most significant historical heritages from the area. As a result, our new building borrows a few key elements like the curved line of the roof and the white solid walls with small window openings . These were combined with new technologies and materials like the media façade and which together are subject to modern principles of sustainability. The requirements for this building were to create sales offices for a new residential complex with a private and exclusivist design. In order to achieve this, we opted for a symmetrical composition, a facade with repetitive elements to create rhythm and a feeling of monumentality. Moreover, the building and the small yard are separated by the public area with an imposing fence and they are accessible through a main gate with a large floating canopy.

position|architect type |commercial + office phase |concept design area |42.000 m2
For this large commercial project the approach was to create an interesting and visually appealing facade towards the street in order to attract the public and invite them inside. The big stone walls that offer the building stability and strength are alternated with large glass curtain walls that basically mark the entrances and other special spaces of the complex. What’s more, the smart use of landscape and lighting design is creating a real spectacle for the guests to enjoy and encourage them to return for the experience.

Vanke Commercial River China, Changsha| 2015 position |architect type |commercial phase |concept design area |12.800 m2
The main idea for this project is based on the landscape team concept of the stones in a river. This is why the whole layout of the plan is organic and asymmetrical. To emphasize the concept, the small commercial buildings with irregular shape are finished mostly in stone material, while the flow of people among them, as the main dynamic element, will represent the river.

School of Bunesti
Wodden doors and frames restoration
Romania, Arges | 2012
organizer |Maria Tibanesti Association & Styrcea Family type |course & workshop responsibilities |learn & help with the restoration of the wooden doors & frames School of Bunesti is a school-site for student architects and more. It takes place every summer since 2008, in a clearing in the Valsan Valley in Arges Country. Working exclusively with natural materials, the school is exploring the potential of traditional techniques, learning from vernacular architecture and applying it to current needs, with no desire to imitate or innovate at all costs. Over the past years, the purpose of the workshops was an obvious one: to reveal meanings that the use of local natural materials send to the act of building and to the building itself.

Structural Performance
Tensegrity | 1:1 Model | Publication
UAUIM | 2012 Year Type Location Program
|5th year |team project |Bucharest, Romania |public space, library, concert hall, restaurant
Tensegrity, tensional integrity or floating compression, is a structural principle based on the use of isolated components in compression inside a net of continuous tension, in such a way that the compressed members (usually bars or struts) do not touch each other and the prestressed tensioned members (usually cables or tendons) delineate the system spatially. The term tensegrity was coined by Buckminster Fuller in the 1960s as a portmanteau of “tensional integrity. We used the tensegrity icosahedron, discovered by Buckminster Fuller in 1949, as a module for our complex spatial structure. Finally, we made a 1:1 model which was basically an exibit for other students to interact with during a period of one month.
