Meet the New Trustees

WILL BACKSTROM

Will Backstrom is the Senior Vice President, Client and Community Relations Director of PNC Bank in Greater Maryland. Before coming to PNC, he spent three years with Bradford Bank as their Community Reinvestment Act Officer. Prior to his banking career, Mr. Backstrom spent ten years working for non-profit housing and community development organizations, engaging in everything from one-on-one homeownership counseling to overseeing comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategies. Mr. Backstrom served two terms as a BMA Trustee from 2013 through 2018. He is currently a member of the Building, Grounds & Capital Planning Committee.

Liberal Arts, English Diction for Singers, and Public Speaking. She has served on the Boards of Teach for America, the Baltimore School for the Arts, and the Shriver Hall Concert Series. She is a Life Member of the BSO Board. Presently she serves on the Peabody Institute National Board of Advisors. Ms. Becker and Mr. Robert Meyerhoff were founder supporters of the award-winning OrchKids program started by Maestra Marin Alsop. Together they have a collection of large-scale color photographs, promised to the National Gallery of Art. Their photographs by Candida Höfer were presented in the 2011 BMA exhibition Interior Worlds.

RHEDA BECKER

Rheda Becker served as the Resident Narrator of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for 42 years, in addition to performing with symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. She was a faculty member of the Peabody Institute at the Johns Hopkins University, where she taught courses in

NANCY HACKERMAN

Nancy Hackerman is the General Manager of Hackerman Holdings, LLC, a real estate development and management group, and the Managing Director of The Hackerman Foundation. She presently serves as a Board Member of the International NGO, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and is a Director of the applied research Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute. Ms. Hackerman has served as President of the Associated Jewish Charities, and Board Member of Enoch Pratt Free Library, Sinai Hospital, the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the Maryland Zoological Society, the Central Scholarship Bureau, and the American Jewish Committee.
