Hello everyone. Please join us in welcoming Vincent Mahon into the club. Vincent describes himself as hanging onto the microphone for dear life, a position he currently occupies with Seeds Of 77.

1. We’re sitting in the cyber pub doing this interview and it’s our round. What would you like to drink? Brendan Behan said, “I’m a drinker with a writing problem”, which is something I think we should all aspire to. Having said that, although I’m more than partial to going off the rails on occasion, I’m currently well and truly on the wagon and I like to take a break from the sauce every now and then. The wonderful thing about sobriety is that you’re never unintentionally rude. There’s none of that “I’m so sorry, I was drunk last night” nonsense. If I am rude to someone it’s because they’re behaving like a gaping sphincter of Biblical proportions and they thoroughly deserve it, not because I’ve had too much to drink. It’s very liberating.

Which is a somewhat long-winded way of saying “I’ll have a lime and soda, please.”

2. What was the last thing you heard or watched that was so good you had to tell someone about it?

“Succession” ticked all my telly boxes. I thought it was brilliant. And I’ve just finished “Painkiller”, a dramatisation of the events behind the OxyContin scandal. It’s pretty much the same story as the equally brilliant “Dopesick” but with a different slant. “Painkiller” is faster, angrier and more in your face.
