BY; JOSE MANUEL ESPINOZA In the last parent-teacher conference, on Thursday March 29, they talk about several topics, first of all they talked about the project of life that we classmate are going to do on “desarrollo Humano” as it counts like the last assignment. In the conference they also talk about the responsibility as the classmates turn 18, all the work that is engaged to them, that is not only party and going out, no!, is about taking the consequences of what each and every act one do. Also they talk about of the classmates having a chance or that they fully are going to study outside of the city that the classmate only have chatted with their friends, but not with her or his parents. This become a little impulsive from the part of the students, they are full of illusions and they haven’t even talked seriously with their parents. One more thing, on the conference they warned our parents saying that some of us aren’t sure of what career to choose that we are insecure of choosing wisely, if we are going to like it or not etc. This is a very interesting point of talking; this is a new step in our lives, our parents, and the people around us. This changes the life of the classmates completely. For last, the teachers gave our parents a paper in which contains important dates of the graduation, how it must take out the picture, and the picture with all the classmate of this generation.

This interview is about a disease that don't have cure. I went to Almater hospital and interviewed Dr. Gilberto Nunez, in which I asked some questions to know more in detail about this topic Diabetes.

Yes, You need to have the assistance of a doctor, nutritionist, cardiologist, internist, endocrinologist, algologist, and neurologist to check your health. Do you believe that we will see the end of the diabetes one day? I think it's the beginning, diabetes is a very common disease and is increasing .Precisely because of sedentary habits because now we have a global epidemic of obesity. What sport do you practice? In which team are you in? In my life I have practice basketball, baseball and weightlifting. I was in “Cimarrones” team of baseball when I was about 10 and now I am BAJA´s team at weightlifting. When did you decide to practice weightlifting? When I enter to middle school I decide to join a team of a new sport because I wanted to do something new and then one friend of my mom told her about weightlifting, she is now the wife of one trainer, and I joined and after being 2 mo ths training in vacations they promote from the beginner class to the actually training ones and then I love the sport even more. What do you think is the best about your sport? There is a lot that people do not know about weightlifting and is almost unbelievable the feeling of doing something is almost for sure that you can´t do but you give the best effort, is something like philosophic that you develop to try even when is impossible to do. To face the things and most of the times accomplishing it.

When and how you started to practice this sport? I started in 2008 at “ciudad deportiva” in Mexicali, Mexico just like something to do on vacation, then I do it to learn a new sport and then I just do it because it was awesome. Was it hard at the beginning? Why? Yes, because I needed to learn movements so specific and there are some difficulties at the beginning because of the legs, just like the gymnastic women, when they need to train the body to get some positions easier. The squad we do sometimes that looks like torture just to get nearer the floor it’s the harder thing I learned it. Who helped you to increase your sport level? Everything I accomplished I owned it to my trainer, coach and friend that I believe is one of the best in the world, he came from China without knowing how to speak Spanish nor English and also to my parents because they supported me every time I need it.

13

In how many competitions have you participated in? I have lost the count, I don’t want to brag about it but they are just too many I don’t know. Did you ever imagine participating in big competitions? At the beginning no, then they told me that getting to regional’s was hard and 2 months later I get first place at them, getting to win on the other levels, so I never imagine it. Where is the farest place you have participated? The biggest place I have got is the Caribbean cup that is in winter and involves México, Ecuador, Cuba and Brazil. I got First place once and third the last time I went. How many medals do you have in total? 11 medals Are you happy with what you have done? I´m proud, but I am also sad because now I had to leave my passion, I lost my trainer and some personal conflicts with the other trainers. I also so I don’t see me training in the future but, be sure I will be supporting the sport later.

LITERARY CRITICISM HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE

BY: Jessica Guerra

“Harry Potter and the philosopher’s”, is a great movie. Some characters that appear in the book are not on the film. Also, a very instead part of the book was neither con the movie. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione are tricked by Draco Malfoy to leave their dormitory at night to attend a wizard’s duel. Malfoy doesn’t show up, and instead he called Argus Filch and told him there were not in the bed room. As Harry, Ron and Hermione run to evade Argus, they land in the room of Fluffy to escape from him. In the movie it only shows the part where they run and instead of Argus Filch looking for them, it was Mrs. Norris and it’s cat. Also, in the book it says that Harry looks into the mirror and sees all his family including his parents. On the movie it only shows his parents. I think it’s more interested the book than the movie, because it describes every single thing and in the exact moment. The movie is also good but when you read the book, it is better.

By: Jose Manuel Espinoza The movie of the Hunger games was pretty awesome, but compared to the book there have been some changes that I want to point out, to start in the book the best friend of Katniss; Gale is her best friend and it supposed to show more history about him, although in the movie show a Little of who he was, but after the competition started, it didn’t show much about his friend Also the death of the competitors were pretty fast, at the start of the games, there was already like 7 deaths out of 23, on the book they gave a more extensive description of each death of every character. Not to mention on the part in which Katniss mom, her sister, and gale visit her before the games begins the movie didn´t show up Peeta father´s, although is not so important but is a part that the cinema didn’t show up. One of the most important differences between the book and the movie is the abstinence of a minor character, which has an important backstage history with Katniss, her name is Kate Hicks. In the book when Katniss is preparing for the games, she meet a lot of people who serve food and drinks on the Capitol, and one of them is an “Avox”, - a mutilated servant- that where this part shows up; Katniss remembers someone trying to escape from the Capitol, but was captured by the government, they said that it was a traitor, and her tongue was cut off. In the book says the back story with this girl and how Katniss regrets that she couldn’t save her when she got the chance to. But in the movie they never show the relationship between these two characters.

My name is Jessica and I am 18 years old. I had an experience when I was 10 years old. I had a very good relationship with my cousin Andrea which is two years older than me. We used to travel together because we had many family events. Her grandmother invited us to Mexico D.F. for 2 weeks. We were so excited but I was the most. Going to Mexico at that age was my dream because I used to see a lot of TV shows. I was dying to see an artist. Everything sounded perfect until Andrea and I knew that the airplane for us to travel was not the same. I had to travel alone and that freak me out. That was the 1st time I traveled by myself., it was a good experience. I didn’t feel nervous and a guy was taking care of me, so that make me feel secure. I was so young to be by myself at an airport but at the same time I felt mature.

It's Bieber's world and we're just living in it! The Canadian sensation, is only seventeen, and is already bigger than MJ! This teenager gets millions of girls screaming every time that he performs; his name is Justin Bieber and he is the newest celebrity in town. He sings, dances, acts and believe it or not, there’s no girl in the world that does not adore him. This kid has a crazy life. He’s performing everyday, has autograph signings, travels the world, and does much more. You may think that Justin is just some typical teen singer not much different from any other teenage star, but he’s way different. Through his crazy schedule he finds time to go on Twitter and reply to

his fans which means the world to them, he finds time to play basketball with his friends and time to have fun and just relax, he also finds time to hang out with his younger siblings, Jaxon and Jazmine Bieber. Justin Bieber? The history of this teenager started four years ago when he entered a local singing competition called Stratford Idol. He said that other people in the

competition had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches, but he wasn’t taking it too seriously at that time, he would just sing around his house. He was only 12 and he won second place.

27

Justin began posting his singing videos from the competition on

YouTube so that his friends and family could watch them, but it turned out that other people liked them and they started subscribing to them. That’s how his manager found him. He saw him on YouTube and contacted his family. Seven months after Justin started posting his videos online, Scooter Braun flew Justin who was then 13-year old to Atlanta, GA to meet with his colleagues.

Right when he flew into Atlanta, they took him to the studio and Usher was waiting there in the parking lot. All it took was a short time for Usher to realize that he was looking at the future superstar. A week later he flew back to Atlanta and sang for Usher and his people and he really wanted to sign him, but he still had a meeting with Justin Timberlake who also wanted to sign him. He signed with Usher, because his deal was way

better. In October of 2008, Justin Bieber officially signed with Usher and Scooter Braun's new label RBMG and Island Records. His first album was named “My World”. Bieber's first single, One Time, went certified platinum in his native Canada after it was released. His album sold more than 137,000 copies within a week. In conclusion, I’m not a JB fan and less the Beiber fever but this kid named Justin Bieber is a teenager like all of us. He may be a role model to us, because he shows us that dreams do come true if you try hard. If you want something you should always try your best and “NEVER SAY NEVER”, never giving up at something you like.

By: Jessica Guerra In this essay I’m going to talk about bipolarity, also known as manicdepressive disorder. This essay will describe causes, consequences, symptoms and signs, and treatment. The main point is to learn about this disorder so we can prevent it. We all have our ups and downs, our “off” days and our “on” days, but if we’re suffering from bipolar disorder, is necessarily to take treatment because is more severe. The symptoms of bipolar disorder can hurt your job and school performance, damage our relationships, and disrupt our daily life. And although bipolar disorder is treatable, many people don’t recognize the warning signs and get the help they need. Since bipolar disorder tends to worsen without treatment, it’s important to know that the symptoms look like. Recognizing the problem is the first step to getting under control. Bipolarity is a condition that affects one mood, emotions, and behavior. It’s a disease that causes psychological and physical problems bad enough that everyday life is affected, sometimes seriously. The most important thing about bipolar disorder is that a person experiences extremes of mood moving from mania or hypomania – the upper end of mood swings, to depression – the lower end. From this reason, it can be caused by stress (stressful life events), substance abuse (Drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy, and amphetamines can cause mania, while alcohol and tranquilizers can cause depression), medication (antidepressant drugs, appetite suppressants and caffeine), seasonal changes (fall, winter and spring), or sleep deprivation (loss of sleep). By: America Sandoval So-and-so's friend, a girl in her teens, is babysitting for a family in Long Beach, Ca. The family is wealthy and has a very large house , with a ridiculous amount of rooms. Anyways, the parents are going out for a late dinner/movie. The father

tells the babysitter that once the children are in bed she should go into this specific room (he doesn't really want her wandering around the house) and watch TV there. The parents take off and soon she gets the kids into bed and goes to the room to watch TV. She tries watching TV, but she is disturbed by a clown statue in the corner of the room. She tries to ignore it for as long as possible, but it starts freaking her out so much that she can't handle it. She resorts to calling the father and asks, "Hey, the kids are in bed, but is it okay if I switch rooms? This clown statue is really creeping me out."

The father says seriously, "Get the kids, go next door and call 911." She asks, "What's going on?" He responds, "Just go next door and once you call the police, call me back."

She gets the kids, goes next door, and calls the police. When the police are on the way, she calls the father back and asks, "So, really, what's going on?" He responds, "We don't HAVE a clown statue." He then further explains that the children have been complaining about a clown watching them as they sleep. He and his wife had just blown it off, assuming that they were having nightmares. The police arrive and arrest the "clown," who turns out to be a short person. A midget clown! I guess he was some homeless person dressed as a clown, who somehow got into the house and had been living there for several weeks. He would come into the kids' rooms at nights and watch them while they slept. As the house was so large, he was able to avoid detection, surviving off their food, etc. He had been in the TV room right before the babysitter right came in there. When

she entered he didn't have enough time to hide, so he just froze in place and pretended to be a statue.

Dragon Ball Z is one of the favorites cartoon show of all kids, and when some adult or teenager rewatch this show, they have a wave of nostalgia, I decide to write about this show that I liked as a kid. It was really good as I remembered. The story is about Goku, a cheerful childish young man whose peaceful life is drastically changed when his brother suddenly shows up, kidnaps his son, and reveals that Goku is an alien, and it was sent to Earth to conquer the planet, and there is a reason why Goku isn’t a villain (of the brain damage from an injury as a child). This event induces a lot of enemies, which Goku along with his son Gohan, and his friends Krillin, Piccolo, etc must defeat to protect the universe, going from the strongest being on Earth to being the strongest being in the universe.

HUMOR One day I was in a baseball game with a cousin, my aunt and uncle in my home town, the game was tied until de 12th inning and finally my team won. After the baseball game we all went dinner to a famous sea food restaurant in my city and I don’t like fish but all the other sea food I do. When the waiter arrived I ordered a big plate of a delicious fillet (I was thinking that it was a big and delicious steak filet), we were talking and when the waiter arrived with the food and gives me a fish fillet with some vegetables, my face was angry and confused because I didn’t wanted to eat that. My family was laughing a lot and the waiter was asking if anything was wrong with the food and we just told him that I didn’t like fish and I ordered wrong, the waiter just start laughing too and a lot of people in the restaurant stare to us very rarely.

In methodology class we are working on a research about how videogames affects the grades of the students. To start with the work, it has to be justified, meaning to say why the research is needed, the importance of this term, and what or who is going to be involved in this investigation. Also we have made six objectives to guide our work or what we are looking for. As the investigation continues, we had collected a lot of information about videogames: History, characteristics, types of videogames, addiction, how affects the social environment, and good or bad things about videogames. Al this is part of the investigation. With this, we had formulated various hypotheses, for our research, they are questions to be involved in our investigation. We have to prove it, if they are wrong or correct is the result of this subject.

36

Personally I learned about this class that I have to administrate my time. Although I like the term that we are working on, the investigation has several steps that we have to give on each period of the semester. There is a phrase saying you always learn from your mistakes, and let me tell you something it’s true, because this subject is not that easy. Never the less until today we are working on the interviews and they are the hardest part of the job, because you have to make the question clear so the interviewers are cleared and answer with the right data that we want. Still we are working on this investigation. For last I have learned that the key of making this fast is dividing the work or the assignments. BY: Jose Manuel Espinoza

This is likely to be a day geared to fulfilling the needs of family. Lesser persons would resent the obligation, but not you, Aries. You have a nurturing spirit. As long as you feel appreciated, you're happy to go the extra mile (or two). You can expect to feel loved by those around you. You have a willing, giving nature, and it shows in your aura like a beacon for all to see.

Guilt can be a powerful motivator, Taurus, but it isn't a pure one. Today you could feel obligated to help a family member with something you'd prefer to take no part in. There are times, like this, when familial duty trumps personal desires. Do your best to be helpful and gracious even though it could be a trying time for you. You'll feel good about yourself once it's all done.

Today you could feel overwhelmed with obligations and commitments to others. There isn't a moment free for yourself, not even for a bathroom break! Clearly, something's out of balance, Gemini. It's time to take charge of your life. It's wonderful that you have such a giving, generous spirit, but you do no one any favors if you burn out from exhaustion. Take some time to refill the well of your soul.

Those who know the real you find your lack of confidence frustrating, Cancer. Your talents are startling to mere mortals, yet you rarely take credit for all your abilities. Today you get an opportunity to participate in a project that could make or break your career. You may hesitate, weigh your capabilities in your mind, and come up short. Not only can you do this, you can do it better than anyone else!

You may be in a quiet, reflective mood today, Leo. You could receive a communication from an old friend that sets you remembering the good old days of your youth. You can't help but look at some of your pivotal decisions and wonder how your life would have been different had you made other choices. It's pointless to play that game. Don't wonder about "what if. Embrace what you have.

Today, Virgo, forget socializing, working, and answering the phone. Stay home and cuddle in a blanket by the fire. Get out your old yearbooks or photo albums and have fun reflecting on good times from your past. Enjoy being quiet and still. Listen to the ticking of the clock and the wind outside. Measure time by the shadows moving across the room. Give yourself this day of meditation.

Don't be surprised if neighbors come to your door asking for a favor – and not just to borrow a cup of sugar! While your initial response will be to say yes (it's your nature, after all), think twice. This "favor" could involve a major time commitment. Is this what you want to do? You can put your needs ahead of your friends' and still be a good neighbor. Don't worry, they'll understand.

Today should be a "no holds barred" day as you strategize your next career move, Sagittarius. If you were in the army, you'd be a five-star general by now - your tactical sense is that good. Unfortunately, your office isn't handing out stars. You'll have to be satisfied with a raise and promotion - the least they can offer after all your hard work. If no such offer is forthcoming, go and ask for it!

Today might be largely devoted to household tasks, Capricorn. It isn't exactly the most glamorous assignment, but you take a certain pleasure in attending to daily necessities. Pay some bills, throw in a few loads of laundry, do some yard work and cooking. Your partner or family will appreciate your efforts. It's even more fun if it isn't expected of you. And who knows? Maybe they'll reciprocate.

You're likely to wake up today with a compulsion to clean or organize something, Scorpio. This may be rather unlike you. If we didn't know better we'd say that you were feeling a parental urge, and your nesting instinct is kicking in. Indulge your domestic desires today. Tomorrow you're probably going to be in quite a different frame of mind!

This is going to be a rather busy day for you, Aquarius, and you're likely to love every minute of it. You can expect to meet many people as you go about your day. There will be side trips and detours that you weren't anticipating, but they're all the more delightful because of their spontaneity, like the unexpected lunch with a friend. Such stolen moments enrich your life

You've been working hard lately and deserve the professional acclaim that comes your way, Pisces. As a result of your efforts, it's likely you've received or will soon receive a bonus, raise, or promotion of some kind. Celebrate, but just one night. If you let the party continue indefinitely, the bill could be too large even for you! Be frugal and work hard. That's your real ticket to the good life
