TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT IN TOURIST-CENTRIC LOCATIONS Transportation is an integral part of the overall experience and journey of a tourist. To ensure safety, security, comfort, and ease of access, efficient systems need to be put in place. Currently, public transportation has declined in popularity due to accessibility, longer travel times, and poor public safety and hygiene, leading to a rise in private vehicles. Due to the Covid pandemic, the general public has been advocating more personalized modes of transport as a way to avoid being in crowded spaces, leading to increased road traffic, as well as an increased carbon footprint. The proposal addresses tourism transit at three levels: the source (transit hub) and its connections with tourist destinations (secondary and tertiary street interventions).
