/sen·ja/ (n) the time when the sun fades into the horizon.
In my hometown, people often use the term “usia senja,” meaning “sunset age.” The analogy highlights the vital role of our elders in society, much like a sunset, which many consider the most beautiful part of the day.
Senja reimagines a senior daycare centre as a place to appreciate every stage of life, and to cherish our elders for the values they have brought to society—as storytellers, guardians of traditions, and sources of wisdom.

What if peranakan tiles are a verb and not a noun?
The popularity of Peranakan tiles has grown in recent years, although its production had stopped since the 1930s. I have chosen this craft with the intention to revive the the art of Peranakan tiles, corresponding to the site philosophy “Chye Seng Huat” which translates to to fluorish again.
The design is based on a design question that bends the fact surrounding Peranakan tiles: “What if Peranakan tiles are a verb and not a noun?”
Verbs are commonly perceived as movements. However, I demonstrated the importance of fixed/ static points to show these movements through a set of abstract models where in the absence of these fixed points, the model fails to move the way it is supposed to.

SECTION A-A SECTION B-B 15 portfolio 2024 lasalle college of the arts
Fixed points are now explored as spaces. On the first floor, the courtyard acts as the fixed space, with different functional spaces of the workshop surrounding it. Here, the main role of the fixed point ventilation as ceramic making requires constant exchange of air.
On the second floor, the fixed space is combined between a green deck and void. Aside from ventilation, this void allows visual connection between the public spaces and the craftmen’s space.
On the third floor, the fixed point is simply a continuation of the void. However, private spaces such as the office is located on this level and therefore, the visual connection is one-way into the void.

SEMESTER 2 ⁄ Marina East Under The Bridge, Singapore
Located under the Benjamin Sheares Bridge, the site is a popular rest stop for cyclists, ranging from kids to professional/hobby cyclists. Inspired by a beaver’s lodge , this pit-stop emulates the movement of beavers throughout their dwellings, where water acts as an intersection between the interior and the exterior. Exploring this idea has benefited me in designing the circulation within the site, in which I aimed to alter the traffic of the main user groups–the kid cyclists and hobby cyclists.

04 TEXT IN SPACE
SEMESTER 1 ⁄ SHIFT–OVERLAP
Text in Space explores two different verbs, in my case, “shift ” and “overlap”. On my first ever project in this course, I attempted to embody these verbs through a series of drawings both on shift and overlap. These two drawings then combine into one, which will then be reimagined as a physical model. The multiple layers on this model overlap each other, with force going through it creating a shift throughout the forms.

The furniture set (read as “Wave”) is a curation of pieces by renowned brands Magis, BD Barcelona Design and &Tradition. With similar tubular parts and semi-circular curves, the set is both playful and high-end.
Using 3DS Max V-ray, this assignment allowed me to practice on 3D modelling and rendering to create magazine-like images of the individual furniture pieces, as well as the set.

SEMESTER 4 ⁄ Queen Victoria Gardens, Melbourne, Australia
In the past, the lands surrounding the Yarra River was a source of life for the Aboriginal people. With its dramatic bends, the river would periodically flood and replenish the surrounding lands. During the colonisation, the river was realigned by setting earth onto the affected lands to control its flooding and thus the area of the site shifted its landscape from wetlands to botanic gardens. Holding onto its sentimental values, realignment is reintroduced into the site, changing the human flow. Dramatic bends and play in depth is brought back into the walk paths, changing of pace of the pedestrians; this slowing down may be an opportunity for people to gather–the sediment of people–where new meetings occur, re-meetings, a site for events, etc.

2021 . I am a COVID batch graduate, so there was not much high school memories that my friends and I shared as our time at school was cut short. I wanted to make this yearbook memorable, to involve my friends in the making of this memorabilia. This was my first experience with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and yes, it was not a perfect yearbook. However, I have learnt so much through the process and I am grateful to say that the making of this yearbook had connected people through tough times.

While this publication has multiple works contained inside, I realised that throughout the weeks, I had put myself in the centre of this body of work, creating focal points that are based on my point of view and most importantly, my personal preferences.

dis(Order) - RMIT, Communication Systems. Only in order that disorder exists. This second publication focuses on transcribing existing artworks. The last part of this publication is the transcription of John Brack’s painting “Collin’s St, 5 p.m,” in which I was drawn to the grid system the painting follows like the layout of the city of Melbourne, also resembling the orderly manner of people working 9-5 and thus the theme of this publication is dis(Order), where some parts are very orderly, while others are the opposite.
Attempt 2: Painting To complete the transcription process decided to paint the glass pieces using acrylic paint, while trying to keep the translucency in mind. However, this that this step made the piece "too representing". felt like this is just an abstraction of the original painting and not a work on its own. Lucky enough, acrylic paint can be washed off from glass. Attempt 1: Laying out Laying out the broken pieces of glass to make an impression of Mark Rothko's "Self Portrait, 1936" by distilling the main forms that make up the painting. would say that if they are not put side by side, you would not know that it's of the same painting but think this is a crucial part of transcribing an artwork. Here, also realised the importance of lighting as the shadows formed creates dimension to the piece–almost like completing the shapes. In my opinion, lighting also plays an important role in Rothko's painting. Broke my glass cup accidentally while washing it just a day after purchasing; kept it for a while thinking what could do with it. Broke the cup into smaller pieces inside a handkerchief. 09 08 (DIS)ORDER (DIS)ORDER ANDREA ANGELICA ANDREA ANGELICA H F orms in S ketches Marilyn Monroe This is a scene out of the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes where Marilyn Monroe performed the song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." Here, experimented with charcoal for the first time in 2020. realised that charcoal is very difficult to control and it gets everywhere. With this constraint, am forced to capture only the main forms of the image and was not able to capture the details, which think is useful in a way that it helped me break away from what was used to, focusing on details. Audrey Hepburn She is an icon. At the time (2021), kept coming across Ms Hepburn's movie scenes in Instagram reels and thought she had stunning facial features so decided to sketch her. discovered the left photograph of Audrey Hepburn by Bud Fraker in 1957 and chose this because it showed her facial structure and features really well. did not aim for realism but wanted my drawing to be as accurate as possible so in doing so, found myself drawing in parts, starting from the eyes and taking it not as eyes, but as series of shapes. As soon as started doing so, found it fairly easy to capture facial features. https://www.peterfetterman.com/privateviews/7a8125c67c6ca4b5cdea87/31971-bud-fraker-audrey-hepburn-c.-1957/a THE MOVIE GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES PORTRAIT OF AUDREY HEPBURN, 1957, BY BUD FRAKER IN GELATIN SILVER PRINT. The elements are layed out in a repeated horizontal rectangular lines and the vertical elements in Brack's painting, together with the horizontal lines make up a grid, just like how the city of Melbourne is laid out. Moreover, this repetition in the grid shows the monotonity of the subjects in the painting, particularly the nine to five work Layers upon layers/Transcription III This simple transcription of John Brack's painting focuses on understanding the layers in the artwork, and how they are layered upon each other in a very rigid, rectangular manner. Perception/Line art Drawn without looking at the paper, found myself studying the artwork more than if had looked at it. realised that there are layers to the elements in the artwork, the buildings, the pedestrians across the street, the tree and lampost, and then the people in the foreground. 23 22 (DIS)ORDER (DIS)ORDER ANDREA ANGELICA H ANDREA ANGELICA 5. Frankenstein These series of strategically superimposed photographs becomes eerie because bodily organs look like they are misplaced. There is beauty within these photos, yet somehow it evokes a grotesque feeling to it; they look like the body parts are stitched together, not by strings like they are in the movie Frankenstein, but by the play of light, the power of superimposing images. Titles of artworks shows the artist's point of view and the messages they portray through these artworks. Artworks are subjective; in a lot of cases, one artwork means differently for different people. As viewers, how we perceive art may be different from the artist. This retitling exercise had given me the chance to reimagine artworks in a different way from the artist, and express a new perspective to the artwork. 21 20 (DIS)ORDER (DIS)ORDER ANDREA ANGELICA H ANDREA ANGELICA H (dis)Order /Transcription IV Queen Victoria Gardens, Melbourne Only in order that we can see disorder, it is contrast that disorder surfaces. Inspired by John Brack's painting titled "Collin's Street, 5p.m," this pavilion intended installation focuses on the grids and rigidity in Brack's painting, where the vertical elements breaks the horizontal elements creating a grid, representing the layout of the city of Melbourne, the series of vertical and horizontal lines forms repetition in which the artist expressed his take on the monotonity of the people in the city who work nine to five. This was the scene in 1955; since then, Melbourne has changed drastically. Now although still common in a lot of industries, nine to five almost seems outdated. In the city, there are all sorts of differences or "disorders" where everyone has different patterns, work or study times and activities. Therefore, the monotonity in the grid is broken. In this installation, the structure is laid in an order of rows and columns, however, they are made porous, allowing people to walk through each box. The movement of people, in this case, would not follow the grids, disorderly In addition to the idea of order [and disorder], John Brack had strategically painted the foreground subject more vibrantly, drawing our eyes onto them. There is notion of strategic navigation here; through the different vibrancy of colours of the squares, the intended purpose is to draw people into these coloured squares as a means of interaction, while the colourless squares might act as isolation spaces, dividing them from the outside world. 25 24 (DIS)ORDER (DIS)ORDER ANDREA ANGELICA H ANDREA ANGELICA H 47 portfolio 2024 visual design

travels - I have really liked taking photos since I was really young. I remember I used my dad’s Canon G11 as a kid and I was the one carrying it around along trips. Still in search of that old trusty camera but these photos are taken on Fujifilm XT-1. I think I have a new passion in currating too, so here are some currated photos of my holiday trips. Mostly taken in Bali.
