CEO UPDATE
We all know that the world is changing. Evolution is part of life and the way things are done are always shifting. Motor racing is not immune to this, including the way we race, the safety standards we keep, the regulations, our governance, and the business of running the sport we love.
One major shift I have noticed in recent years is the move from tracks to utilise a multi-sanctioned model, meaning tracks running events under different sanctions. Dragway at The Bend and Sydney Dragway are the most public examples of this, but there are plenty of others, and more are starting to follow. It is also a trend evident in the speedway industry. It is increasingly the new way for tracks to do business; to operate in what is a dayby-day open marketplace.
As the market evolves, the benefits for tracks of a multi-sanction agreement are easy to see. It creates a competitive environment when it comes to sanctioning, which means all sanctions must always be keeping improving standards, pricing, and service front of mind, and be continuously working hard throughout the term of their agreements for the benefit of the track. There can
be no trading surety and stability for complacency and slipping service in a multi-sanction agreement, no matter who you partner with.
When you consider this scenario, it is clear why more and more tracks are pursuing the multi-sanction route. It is also easy to see why we are seeing the rise of big paydays being offered in exchange for exclusive sanctioning rights. In short, tracks have more choice and bargaining power than ever before, and I don’t envy them their decision in choosing which road to go down.
Like anything in life, organisations have to keep evolving, keep changing, and keep developing into better and better models. This is one of ANDRA’s challenges.
While ANDRA is more than 50 years old, we need to have a mechanism to keep evolving and to keep us relevant in 2026 (not 1973). That is where our constitution plays its part, governing the way our organisation runs and providing a mechanism for constitutional change that can be utilised when required. The constitution is currently being reviewed, with proposed changes (initially raised

before our AGM in November) to hit the membership soon through a consultative process – so be sure to look out for that in the coming weeks.
While ANDRA’s system for change may be slow at times, this is because we are answerable to the members. ANDRA just needs to find the ability to work a little more quickly, while giving members fair opportunity to be heard – and that is something we are working on.

Galetakis brings 28 years of experience delivering high-capital, high-complexity programs across the automotive, defence, medical/health, not-for-profit, and space technology sectors.
His career spans engineering development, design, manufacturing, global strategy, governance, business management, and the leadership of major programs and high-performing teams.
He has also served on community-level boards in disability services and arts and culture, and holds qualifications in engineering, finance, marketing, and politics.
A lifelong supporter of drag racing, Galetakis has been connected to the sport for more than three decades through family and friends, as well as personal participation as both a street/strip racer and a spectator.

SANTO RAPISARDA HAS BEEN INDUCTED INTO THE AUSTRALIAN
MOTORSPORT HALL OF FAME
Top Fuel legend Santo Rapisarda was inducted into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame at an official ceremony as part of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne in early March.
The Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame is the highest honour in Australian motorsport – an exclusive honour-roll made up of less than one inductee for each of the 125 years motorsport has occurred in Australia.
It is stewarded by the Australian Motorsport Council – the united national advocacy voice for two-wheel and fourwheel motorsport made up of the peak national regulatory bodies of Australian motorsport.
As the not-for-profit, member-based, controlling body of drag racing in Australia as recognised by both Motorsport Australia and the FIA, ANDRA – which was on-site to support Santo in
receiving this important honour at the Grand Prix – sits alongside Motorsport Australia, Motorcycling Australia, and Karting Australia as a member.
ANDRA Chief Executive Officer Tim McAvaney is both a Board Member of the AMC and of the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame Sub-Committee, as well as a member of the Hall of Fame judging panel.
“The name Santo Rapisarda is synonymous with Top Fuel racing in Australia, and the impact he has made here and the investment he has made is immeasurable,” ANDRA CEO Tim McAvaney said.
“There is no doubt that he is very deserving of this prestigious honour, and we are so pleased to see him recognised in this way.
“Santo has been a leader within Australian drag racing, and his team is a title winning force to be reckoned with. We hope you will join us in congratulating him on joining a wonderful group of drag racing legends in the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame.”
A prominent figure in Australia’s drag racing community known for his passion and dedication to the sport, Rapisarda is the owner of Rapisarda Autosport International.
Across many decades, RAI has made significant contributions to the Top Fuel racing scene in Australia, picking up 12 national titles along the way, and has also competed overseas.
For Rapisarda, drag racing is a family
sport through and through – a number of his children are heavily involved in RAI, including sons and crew chiefs Santo Jnr and Santino; and the team races in honour of Rapisarda’s son Louie, who was killed at the age of 23 in July 1990 at Willowbank Raceway in a drag racing incident.
“To be inducted into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame is something that is a massive honour, it is overwhelming,” Rapisarda said.
“I love Top Fuel racing, and I have been so proud to be a part of it here in Australia and overseas side by side with my family for such a long time, and I am not planning on slowing up anytime soon!
“Drag racing is an amazing sport, and to be recognised for what we do together as a team is very rewarding. This is as much about me as it is about my kids and my crew and our drivers, and I thank them for all of their support and hard work over the decades.”
Rapisarda was one of six inductees honoured for 2026, alongside the Repco-Brabham BT19 – the first car to be inducted – as well as seven-time Supercars Champion, Jamie Whincup;
leading official and entrepreneur Garry Connelly AM, who was crucial to the formation of Rally Australia; World Motorcycle Enduro Champion, Shane Watts; and the late Ken Blake, an 11time Australian motorcycle road race champion.
“Santo Rapisarda’s top fuel drag racing progression is one of the most inspiring stories in motorsport. His son, Louie, was killed in a high speed drag racing crash, and Santo, after a period of mourning, races in Louie’s memory. He has invested more in the development of his sport than even he can calculate and he does it all out of love,” Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame Chairman, John Smailes, said.
Rapisarda joins a list of drag racing leaders in the Hall of Fame, including Chris Matheson (2025), Graham Withers (2024), Victor Bray (2023), Eddie Thomas (2019), Larry Ormsby OAM (2019), Graeme Cowin (2018), Jim Read (2017) and Ash Marshall (2016).

At this event, not only will the question of just who will claim the coveted Gold ANDRA Christmas Tree championship trophies be decided, but so too will the latest recipient of the prestigious John Storm Memorial Award.
Not to be forgotten either is the race for the event honours, with bragging rights and ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree trophies also in play for the expected 150-plus racers looking for victory at Tailem

“It has been an incredible season so far, and the ANDRA Grand Finals are shaping up as a very exciting conclusion to the 2025/2026 championship chase,” ANDRA CEO Tim McAvaney said.
“We have been treated to plenty of thrilling racing battles across the season so far and with championship honours on the line, as well as ANDRA Grand Finals bragging rights, we expect to see plenty more on April 18.

to see you as we look to bring 2025/2026 to a fitting close at Dragway at The Bend.”
As a hotly contested championship chase which has stretched across the Northern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales with events at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip, Alice Springs Inland Dragway, Dragway at The Bend, Mildura’s Sunset Strip, Portland’s South Coast Raceway, and Sydney Dragway, a number of racers head to the Grand Finals on the 300 points cap, with more still remaining in the hunt with up to 100 points on offer for a win across the 12 championship brackets.

Junior Dragster racer Taylor Horton was the title runner-up last year and after being the first of the racers in his bracket to ‘cap out,’ is hopeful he can go one better in 2026.
“I feel confident going into the Grand Finals and happy that I was capped out on points first,” Horton said.
“I do hope to win the event this year. Being runner-up last year has really given me the drive to strive hard this year to bring it home.
“We have travelled all over Australia this year to try and achieve this result, and I hope I can do it.”
Dan Hodgins sits atop the Gallagher Modified championship points tally, capping out early and leading the way to the ANDRA Grand Finals all the way from his home in the Northern Territory.
“As much as I have led the points chase from the first round in Darwin, I still feel like the underdog with some great racers in the hunt for the championship,” Hodgins said.
“To take home the gold would be such an honour when you know these guys and girls are in the other lane.
“After coming off a win at Dragway at The Bend’s Track Championship event in early March, it has built some confidence, but I’m sure the competition will be intense.
“I am looking forward to having some fun with our awesome crew and supporters who help me chase down the dream.”
After taking out the Super Street title in 2023, Tommy Turic is hoping to add another ANDRA Gold Championship
Christmas Tree Trophy to his mantle, this time in Top Sportsman.
“I am really looking forward to the ANDRA Grand Finals, and it is great to be going in on the points cap after a solid season,” Turic said.
“The focus now is just on staying sharp, cutting good reaction times, and letting the car do its job.
“Darryl Stephen and Dean Tassone are both very tough competitors, so it is going to be a great battle.

“Winning the championship would mean a lot and would be a huge reward for all the hard work that has been put in this season.”
New Gen Business Park Competition Bike racer Cheryl ‘MsVrod’ Beddoes has been a picture of consistency across the 2025/2026 season and is hopeful of landing her first ANDRA championship.
“I am feeling really excited and at the same time a little nervous leading up to the championship,” Beddoes said.
“My consistency has seen me lead the point series all season, however, I am up against some greatly experienced racers who are all on the points cap too.
“To be able to win the championship would be a dream come true for me.
“My plan as always is to ride with passion, focus, and consistency; ensuring the bike and I are always one.
“Let’s do it for the girls!”
In the Competition ranks, Connor McClure leads the way after a big year for the WA team which while consistent, hasn’t yet included an event victory.
“We are super excited to get back to Adelaide and wrap up a huge year of traveling for our team,” McClure said.
“Leading the points into the final round is a credit to the whole team for putting together such a consistent car for all these rounds!
“It would be the exclamation mark on our championship and a huge reward to everyone involved for their efforts if we can come away with the win, something which has eluded us all season!”
In Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike, reigning champ Dean Jamieson is hoping to turn one ANDRA championship into two.
“I am feeling fairly confident heading into the Grand Finals, we have a small gap on the rest of the field, but are certainly feeling the pressure this year trying to back up last year’s performance,” Jamieson said.
“If we could come away with the win – it is hard enough to win one, but to win two ANDRA Championships, well that would be just mega!”
Also set to be decided on April 18 is the 2025/2026 winner of the prestigious John Storm Memorial Trophy.
Commissioned in memory of Mr John Storm, the first National Director of ANDRA, the John Storm Memorial Trophy is an annual national award made to the competitor in Group Two, Three or Four who scores the highest total overall points from all rounds of the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship, including the final event.

Heading into the Grand Final, four racers remain in striking distance for this important award: Cooper Plummer (585 points), Beddoes (570), Aliza Harris (520), and Turic (495).
If Plummer or Harris are able to take it out, they will be the first Junior racer to do so since Toby Austin in 2015, and the first ever to do so in Junior Drag Bike –given that New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike only became a championship bracket this season.
“I am hoping to do well and take out the championship, and the John Storm is one of the best awards you can get,” Plummer said.
“I am really excited to see how this Grand Final goes, because it is basically a fourway battle for the championship for the junior bikes.
“I would love to say good luck to all of my competitors, and thanks to all of my

For Beddoes, the John Storm Memorial trophy would be the ultimate reward for her fierce dedication to the sport she loves.
“It would be such an honour and a privilege to win the John Storm Memorial Trophy,” Beddoes smiled.
“Given the fantastic line-up of racers who have won that award, it would really be surreal.”
With 100 points on the table at the Grand Final, Turic is also in with a chance if things go his way at Dragway at The Bend.
“The John Storm Memorial Trophy hasn’t really been our main focus heading into the final round, but it is definitely something we wouldn’t turn down!” Turic added.
“Our priority is just concentrating on the race, doing our job, and trying to put together the best runs we can. If things fall our way and we end up with it, that would obviously be pretty special.”

VenuesWest, ANDRA, and Evolve Facility Management were recently pleased to confirm the extension of the operating agreement at Perth Motorplex.
Evolve Facility Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of ANDRA, has exercised its option for a further five-year term, which was approved by VenuesWest and has been in effect since 1 February 2026.
ANDRA CEO Tim McAvaney said the extension reflects the strong momentum the venue has built in recent years.
“This is a great result for ANDRA and for Perth Motorplex, following significant growth and renewed energy under the
leadership of General Manager Gavin Migro,” McAvaney said.
“The venue is continuing to move forward with confidence, and the next five years present an exciting opportunity to further strengthen Perth Motorplex’s position as a premier motorsport destination.”
VenuesWest CEO David Etherton said that the extension is the best outcome for the motorsport community.
“VenuesWest is pleased to extend the operating agreement with Evolve Facility Management, who have delivered exceptional venue management and customer experiences since their
appointment in 2020,” said David.
“The extension provides certainty for the motorsport community about the service they can expect at Motorplex, and we are looking forward to the venue’s continued success under the leadership of the Evolve team.”

“Going fast and getting PBs and hanging with my friends. Travelling – not the actual car ride but going to different states and tracks and meeting new people. Since my first meeting in September, I have raced in Alice Springs, Mildura, Portland, Sydney, and the Bend.”
Junior Drag Bike is enjoying its first season as an ANDRA championship bracket – how do you feel about that?
“It is great that it’s a recognised event. Gives me something to work towards winning and at the same time I get to work on my technique. People don’t realise how technical drag racing is.”
You head into the ANDRA Grand Finals on the points cap - how are you feeling ahead of the Grand Final?
“I am excited and nervous but mostly looking forward to racing to see what I can achieve.”
What would it mean to you to take out the championship title?
“If I took it out in my first year it would be super exciting and may help me get my first sponsor.”
Is there anyone who you would like to shine the spotlight on for their involvement in your racing?
“Anthony and Lawrence for getting into the sport; mum and dad for financing me and getting me into the meetings; Marius du Toit for coaching and bike maintenance help; and DRASA for their support and guidance. While Saturday December 6 at South Coast Raceway may have been decidedly soggy at times, Sunday December 7 saw more than 165 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Racers greeted by perfect sunny weather conditions for the final day of the South Coast Nationals.
Across the day eliminations racing was held for 11 championship brackets for what is round five of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Series season, with the following racers taking out the event-winning silver ANDRA Christmas Tree trophies at the end of the day: Cooper Plummer (New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike), Ava Walker (Junior Dragster), Stefan Lainas (Goodyear Racing Super Street), Dean Jamieson (Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike), Tony Tedesco (The South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan), Adriana Cartledge (Gallagher Modified), Edge Mallis (New Gen Business Park Competition Bike), Daniel Jones (Top Sportsman), Shane Baxter (New
Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws), Shayne Reid (Super Comp), and Adrian McGrotty (Three Dimensional Construction Super Gas).

In New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike, Cooper Plummer took another win to add to his successful season tally by defeating Lawrence Raschella in the final. Earlier in the day Plummer had faced off against Austin Walpole in round one, before a round two bye. Raschella meanwhile had dispatched Riley Kilvington (round one) and Aliza Harris (round two) on his way to the final matchup. Plummer was also the top qualifier for the bracket.
In Three Dimensional Construction Super Gas, Adrian McGrotty took another South Coast Nationals win after winning at the same event in 2024 – a victory that commenced a winning streak which played a big part in him taking out the 2024/2025 ANDRA Championship for Super Gas. McGrotty ensured his place in the final with
wins from John Moumas (round one), Colin Griffin (round two),

For Adriana Cartledge, the Gallagher Modified victory came on a special weekend, celebrating the birthday of the late Billy Cartledge, who passed away in January 2024 at the age of 11. Cartledge first took out the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier honours before racing through to the big trophy over runnerup, Derek Wills. On her way to the final, Cartledge enjoyed a bye in round one before taking wins from David Grills (round two) and Kenny Stewart (semifinal). Wills meanwhile had successfully taken on Josie Hodgins (round one) and Bradley Hicks (round two) before a semifinal bye.
New Gen Business Park Competition Bike employed the Chicago three round shootout format this weekend, with Edge Mallis taking the win over Nathan Stone in the finals. Mallis and Stone earned their respective places in the finals with round two and three wins over New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Joe Khoury and Cheryl ‘MsVrod’ Beddoes (Mallis) and Jake Hamilton-Moderate before a round three bye (Stone). In round one, they faced off against each other with Stone turning on the win light, but in the final, it was Mallis who would be celebrating the victory.
In Junior Dragster, Ava Walker took the win over Todd Wagner after having earlier taken victories over Lily Horton (round one), Levi Knezevic (round two), and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Taylor Horton (round three) before a semi-final bye. Wagner meanwhile had successfully taken on Lily Vickery (round one), Charlize Grivell (round two), Angelina Kondilis (round three), and Brock Furlanetto (semi) before heading to the final against Ava Walker.
In Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike, Dean Jamieson took out the ANDRA Christmas Tree from runner-up Rob Church after the day before having claimed the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier medallion. Jamieson had earlier dispatched Greg Oberti (round one) and Bryan Finn (round two), while Church had put Jason Rattray (round one) and David McGinn (round two) on the trailer.
In Super Comp, Shayne Reid took the win over New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Mitch Oxley in the final, after the pair had also faced off in round three of the Chicago Shootout Three Round format, with Oxley that time turning on the win light. Earlier in the day, Oxley and Reid both won their round one match-ups, with New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Oxley enjoying a bye, and Reid taking on Rhys Naylor. In round two, Oxley won over Naylor while Reid had a bye.
In New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws, Shane Baxter backed up his 2024 South Coast Nationals victory with victory in the 2025 instalment, over runner-up Brendan Carr. Baxter punched his ticket to the final after defeating Tony Lamanna (round one) and Mark Hunt (round two) before a semi-final bye, while Carr had emerged victorious from matchups against Drago Nikodijevic (round one) and top qualifier Doina Day (semis), with a bye in round two.
In South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan, Tony Tedesco took the ANDRA Christmas Tree trophy by defeating Dimos Stefanopoulos in the finals, after earlier successes from Les Waight (round one), Ned Karanovic (round two), Matt Dickeson (round three), and Alex Gkroidis (semis). Stefanapoulos meanwhile raced through to the finals with wins from Michael Hanrahan (round one), Scott Bradshaw (round two), and Gary Vogelsang (round three) before a bye in the semis.
In Goodyear Racing Super Street, the win went to Stefan Lainas – another racer who also took the victory at the 2024 event – with the runner-up award going to Dean Cleary. Lainas made his way to the final stand by bettering Andrew Francis (round one), Brian Keane (round two) and Michael Jennings (semis) with a round three bye, while Cleary had taken on Lisa Trezise (round one), his dad John Cleary (round two), and Andrew Lampkin (round three) before a semi-final bye.
In Top Sportsman, Daniel Jones took the win after having earlier claimed the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier medallion. Jones was matched with Tommy Turic in the finals, following earlier wins over Mick Rouhan (round one), and Stuart McBain (semi) with a round two bye, while Turic had sent Scott Foreman (round one), and Jamie Mclaren (round two) packing ahead of a bye run in his semi-final.

The first ANDRA Christmas Trees of 2026 were hoisted in celebration on January 3 as round six of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship – the South Coast 660 at South Coast Raceway – came to a close.
A record event field of more than 170 racers signed up for the two-day event, and while the performances on show from this exciting line-up were thrilling, at the end of the day only 11 could claim the ultimate winning honours.

In Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike, the win went the way of Matt Jones – with the Koo Wee Rup (VIC) resident celebrating after a successful final against Bryan Finn. Jones ensured his spot in the final stand at the South Coast 660 with earlier victories over Peter Brunton (round one) and Derryn McGregor (round two) before a semi-final bye, while Finn had taken wins from Rob Church (round one), David McGinn (round two) and Jason Rattray (semis). By being the winner of Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike at South Coast 660 – which saw him take home his first ever ANDRA Christmas Tree – Jones also claimed the Phil Parker Memorial Trophy.
In New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws, the ANDRA Christmas Tree went the way of Kasey McClure – ensuring her trip over from her home on the other side of the country (Serpentine, WA) was well rewarded. McClure took the win from

Baxter meanwhile had defeated Jason Keily in round one before undertaking a bye run in the semi-final. As the winner of New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws at the South Coast 660, McClure also took out the Chris Stewart Memorial Trophy.
In Goodyear Racing Super Street, Lisa Garbellini was another taking a win for WA, triumphing over Victorian racer and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier, Malcolm Todd. Garbellini came to the final in her Holden Commodore SSZ via wins over George Ritchie (round one), Dean Cleary (round two), and Andrew Smith (semi) while Todd had successfully faced off against Andrew Waight (round one) and Stefan Lainas (semi) with a round two bye in between.
In Three Dimensional Construction Super Gas, bracket stalwart Graeme Spencer wrote another event win into his books, defeating New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Jason Wilson in the final. Spencer – a multi-time champ from Diggers Rest (VIC) – dispatched fellow championship holders Adrian McGrotty (round one) and Colin Griffin (round two) on his way to the final stand, while Wilson had ensured Warren Bull and Brodie Tedesco watched the rest of the event from the sidelines in rounds one and two respectively.
In Junior Dragster, Taylor Horton of Lethbridge (VIC) took out the ANDRA Christmas Tree trophy with victory over James Barlow. To make their way to the final, Horton had earlier dispatched Angelina Kondilis (round one), top qualifier Brock Furlanetto (round two), and Zayne Condello (round three) ahead of a semi-final bye, while Barlow had taken on Abigail Reed (round one), Bailey Hawke (round two), Madelen Datson (round three) and Cody Hunt in the semifinal.
In New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike, it was another WA racer taking the spoils, with Riley Kilvington taking the win over Aliza Harris in the final, having earlier put New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Cooper Plummer on the trailer in round one ahead of a round two bye. Harris had lined up against Lawrence Raschella in round one, before defeating Austin Walpole in round two.
In South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan, Alex Gkroidis ensured a return to the winners’ circle with victory over New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Peter Furlanetto. The Newport (VIC) racer opened his racing aboard his Ford BA GT with victory over Brian Keane (round one), Lisa Sherry (round two), Dimos Stefanopoulos (round three) and Benny Phillips (semi-final) while Furlanetto had earlier taken wins from Dave Sultana (round one), Dave Todd (round two), and Michael Hanrahan (round three) before a semi-final bye.
In Gallagher Modified, Tarneit (VIC) racer Kenny Stewart added another ANDRA Christmas Tree to his collection by taking the win from South Coast Nationals victor, Adriana Cartledge. Stewart’s victory over Cartledge – who was also the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier for the South Coast 660 – followed face offs against David Bunnik (round one) and Fiona Crisp (round two) ahead of a semi-final bye run, while Cartledge had emerged victorious from battles against Paul Fletcher (round one), and Dan Hodgins (round three) while enjoying a round two solo pass.
In Top Sportsman, Tommy Turic had plenty to smile about, collecting the event winning ANDRA Christmas Tree following his winning performance over Darryl Stephen in the final. Adelaide racer Turic and his Pontiac GTO made their way to the final by taking wins from Sam Cardinale (round one), and Stuart McBain (round two) with a bye in the semis, while Stephen had ensured that New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Daniel
Jones (round one), and Tony Miskelly (round three) advanced no further, while benefitting from a bye run in round two.
In New Gen Business Park Competition Bike, top qualifier Cheryl ‘MsVrod’ Beddoes took the win over runner-up Michael Riches in the final. The pair faced off following three previous rounds of racing utilising the ‘Chicago Shootout’ format, with New South Wales rider Beddoes taking three from three wins over Riches (round one), Joe Khoury (round two), and Nathan Stone (round three), while Riches was successful in round two over Stone and round three over Khoury.
In Super Comp, Australia’s most successful sportsman racer, Craig Geddes – of Lake Gardens in Victoria – took the win over WA’s Connor McClure. Earlier in the day, Geddes had taken on Shayne Reid (round one) before a semis bye, while McClure – the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier for Super Comp, enjoyed a solo pass in round one ahead of victory over Chris Soldatos in round two.

ANDRA CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL RETURN TO SYDNEY DRAGWAY
As more than 150 racers from all across the country descended on Sydney Dragway for the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters on January 24, it marked not only the latest exciting hunt for ANDRA Gold Christmas Trees and championship points, but also the return of ANDRA drag racing to the NSW venue.
More than $70k in cash and prizes was also up for grabs across an exciting lineup, which included the Doorslammer Masters, Pro Mod Masters, Extreme
Motorcycle Masters, Pro Stock, and the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship.
In the feature brackets, the Doorslammers and Pro Mods were each chasing $10k for a win, while the two-wheeled titans of Extreme Motorcycle had $3k on the line.
Taking home the winning cheques and the Gold Trees at the end of the oneday spectacular were Nasser Matta (Doorslammer Masters, runner-up Ronnie
Palumbo), Joe Gauci (Pro Mod Masters, runner-up, Carl Cox), and Alex Borg (Extreme Motorcycle Masters, runner-up Ryan Franks). Pro Stock meanwhile was taken out by Thomas Leake, after Darryl Stephen abandoned his final run.
Leake and Borg had their hands full at the presentations, also collecting the New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier honours for their respective brackets, alongside Brodie Zappia (Top Doorslammer), and Carl Cox (Pro Mod).

For the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship competitors, it was the penultimate round of the 2025/2026 title chase for the 120+ racers across 11 brackets, who battled it out for championship points, Gold Trees, and a share of a $20k prize purse.

In the Doorlsammer Masters Nasser Matta took home not only the gold tree but also $10k cash for his winning efforts over runner-up Ronnie Palumbo in the A-Final. Matta (5.789s/252.05mph) overcame a

disadvantage at the start line to drive around Palumbo (5.838s/242.76mph) at the top end to take the win. In an interesting twist, Palumbo had stepped into the Chevrolet usually piloted by Nasser, while Nasser took the wheel of the car of his son Salim, who had to attend a wedding on Saturday. Top qualifier Brodie Zappia retired early due to engine issues in the West Australian’s ACDelco Monaro, where Matta (6.041s/237.96mph v 5.887s/242.67mph) pipped him at the line by just .05s.
In Pro Mod Masters, Joe Gauci and Carl Cox entered the final with one win apiece. Cox claimed victory in round one, before Gauci responded by going one better in round two, setting up a grudge match in the A Final. Cox went into the A Final with the lane choice, however his comeback run after some time spent away from the sport came to an end when he redlit. Seemingly unfazed by his opponent’s mishap, Gauci – who was supported by Carl Cox Motorsport this weekend – put the pedal to the metal, getting dangerously close to the centre line as he powered down the track to cement his
win and secure the $10k in cash.
The Extreme Motorcycle Masters were absolutely rocking as Alex Borg (6.972s/214.25mph) took the A Final win over Ryan Franks (7.111s/207.78mph). With barely anything between Borg’s .062 and Franks’ .064 reaction times, it was anyone’s race from the outset, but Borg would go on to make it three from three in the final pass, while claiming the $3k prize as well as the Gold tree.
In Pro Stock, Thomas Leake enjoyed a solo A-Final win when Darryl Stephen had to abandon his final run at the 11th hour. Leake didn’t let that stop him from putting on a show, sending his Pontiac GXP down the lane in 7.075s at 194.63mph. Peter Mammone’s solo B-Final didn’t go to plan in what should have been a simple A to B run when the chutes shook out during the burnout, and the pass was aborted as the Ford Mustang was pushed back behind the starting line.
In Gallagher Modified Kenny Stewart was no match for Fiona Crisp, whose RT advantage helped seal the win in the
Altered over Stewart’s Dragster. Before meeting Stewart in the final, Crisp first dispatched Teagan Smith and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Adriana Cartledge in rounds one and two. Stewart also took wins to get to the final. First over Paul Ronald Fletcher in round one, and then Chelsea Smith in round two.
In New Gen Business Park Competition Bike it was Suzuki vs Harley when eventual winner Michael Riches lined up against runner-up Cheryl ‘Ms Vrod’ Beddoes. Running the Chicago Shootout format, both racers enjoyed wins in each of the preceding rounds, with Beddoes getting the best of Riches in round two. Before that, Beddoes enjoyed a bye, while Riches took a win over New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Edge Mallis, who did not continue after round two. In round three, Beddoes pipped a red-lighting Nathan Stone while Riches had a bye.
In Super Comp, Luke Cartledge took the outright win following a round one victory over Kim Fardella and a semi-final bye.

He had no competition in the final contest of the evening, as New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Connor McClure was unable to undertake the preceding semi with fluid leaking from his car, following a round one bye. McClure’s opponent for the semi-final, John Kuiper, would have taken the win, but he did not successfully stage and therefore, no winner was declared from the McClure/ Kuiper match-up.
In Three Dimensional Construction Super Gas, winner Jason Wilson lined up against runner-up and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Tony Romeo in the final run, after both racers delivered sensational performances across the day. Wilson raced through the previous three rounds of racing, knocking out Colin Griffin in round one, John Somoracz in round two, and Adrian McGrotty in round three. Romeo continued on from his strong qualifying run with a win over Joe Polito Jr in round one, Joe Catanzariti in round two, and Luke Romeo in the semi-final on the way to the final run.
In New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike Aliza Harris and Cooper Plummer both had multiple wins going into the final Chicago Shootout round, but it was Harris who got the job done to take the win over runner-up and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Plummer. The final round was the second time the pair faced off across the day, with Plummer first taking the win over Harris. To start the day in round one, Harris took the win over Austin Walpole, while Plummer won over Bailey Paul. In round two, the pair switched things up, with Harris winning over Paul, and Plummer over Walpole, before meeting in round three and again in the final.
In Junior Dragster Zayne Condello went all the way in a bumper field to seal the deal over runner-up James Barlow in the fourth round final. From the beginning, Condello powered to victory over Jacob Longo (round one), Cody Hunt (round two), and Lily Vickery (round three) –who sent home New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Taylor Horton in the previous round – to meet Barlow in the final. Barlow’s journey saw the South Australian racer take the win over Lilly Horton (round one), Liam O’Neill (round two), and Savanna Condello (round three) to get to the final.
In Goodyear Racing Super Street it was a family affair in the final run with winner Jack Matosevic getting the better of his uncle and runner-up David Matosevic. To get to the final, Jack was victorious over Craig Warren (round one), Henry Spicak (round two) and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Malcolm Todd (round three). David, meanwhile first got the better of Mark Elbourn in round one, Mark Hopkins in round two, and Lisa Garbellini in round three before lining up for the final pass.

Bike Matthew Jones started the elimination runs with a bye, before sailing through to the final, where he faced off against winner, Gareth Wilcox, but not before ousting Rob Church in round two. Before dispatching Jones in the final, Wilcox had earlier defeated New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Dean Jamieson in round two after Jamieson’s bye in round one. Before that, Wilcox sent Derryn McGregor packing in round one.
In The South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan, Sean Maher went all the way to the end with a win over runner-up Kevin Bowker. Maher and Bowker both enjoyed byes in the 17-car field to get to the final pairing, with Maher’s coming in round two, and Bowker’s one round later. In round one, Maher took care of Adam Hunter, while it was Steve Hunt’s turn to say goodbye in the semi-final. Bowker meanwhile made quick work of New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient Andrew Ashley in round one, ahead of doing the same to Matthew Gay in round two.
In Top Sportsman Josh Boskovich claimed victory over runner-up Darren Whitford when the South Australian and New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier Medallion recipient had to be pushed back after his car wouldn’t fire. To get to the final Boskovich first sent Brett O’Connor packing in round one, before doing the same to Darryl Stephens in round two and Pete Hamilton in the semifinal. Whitford, meanwhile started the day with wins over Iraklis Kazanzidis and Tommy Turic in rounds one and two before a semi-final bye.
In New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws, winner Shane Kramer knocked out New Gen Business Park Top Qualifier
Medallion recipient Tim Stewart in the final match-up, relegating the Victorian to the runner-up position. To get to the final Kramer got the racing runs started with a win over Kasey McClure in round one, before a bye in round two. Stewart, meanwhile, had byes in both rounds one and two to proceed unchallenged through to the finals.

SOUTH COAST RACEWAY CELEBRATES 20 YEARS
On Saturday the 7th of February 2026, South Coast Raceway celebrated its 20th anniversary with an action-packed oneday sportsman and nostalgia racing show which also featured track record breaking appearances from Phil Lamattina and Lamattina Top Fuel Racing – plus burnout demonstrations as well as a live band and entertainment.
For LTFR, what started out as a weekend focused on putting on a good show soon turned into a history-making performance, with Lamattina first setting a new track ET record of 3.33 seconds, before breaking it again later in the event
with an even quicker 3.261, along with a new MPH record of 219mph.
Those performances as well as plenty of amazing sportsman and nostalgia racing delighted what was a big crowd at the popular facility, before a live band and entertainment saw the party kick on into the evening.
“This event was truly a perfect way to celebrate this important milestone for South Coast Raceway,” South Coast Raceway’s Scott Cleary, said.
“From the incredible performances of Phil Lamattina and the Lamattina Top Fuel
Racing team to the amazing show put on by a long list of sportsman and nostalgia racers, we could not have asked for more from the on-track offering at this event.
“To see our local community turn out in droves as well to help us mark 20 years was really greatly appreciated as well.

TOP FUEL ‘BLAHSTS’ INTO ACTION IN MILDURA
The 2026 BLAHST Australian Top Fuel Championship exploded into action at Mildura’s Sunset Strip on Friday 27 February for what ultimately was a ‘just over one-day show,’ with torrential rain sadly bringing a premature close to the scheduled running on Sunday February 28.
The event itself marked the latest chapter in a story of community passion, which had seen the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC), the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association (SDRA), Mildura’s Top Fuel hero Phil Lamattina, and the wider
community working together to welcome four 11,000hp Top Fuel machines and more than 130 Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship competitors to the Sunset Strip.
Those efforts were rewarded immediately with packed spectator areas and spectacular on-track performances throughout Friday evening.
When it came to the on-track running for BLAHST Top Fuel, Shane Olive signalled his intention to reset the Sunset Strip track record he set there in 2022 and
challenge for the victory, blazing through to an impressive 3.296 second pass at 207.05mph in the final Top Fuel pass of the evening. This saw him launch himself into the top qualifier spot by eight tenths of a second and demonstrated his potential to reset his current track record of 3.17 seconds.
Earlier, Olive had been one half of the first BLAHST Top Fuel pairing of the evening, lining up against long-time Top Fuel legend Steve Read, where he had set a 4.165 second pass at 115.18mph after getting off it at half-track, while Read had

smoked the tyres on the hit and rolled through for a 9.617.
Before Olive’s Q2 heroics, WA’s Kyle Putland had held the provisional top spot with a panel-loosening 4.042 second run at 126.77mph in Q1 set alongside Lamattina (4.463 at 100.68mph). Putland then lined up beside Olive for the flamethrowing Q2 side-by-side, with a 4.192 second effort seeing him forced to settle for second on the totem.
Lamattina and Read on the other hand both found improvements in Q2. Lamattina delivered a 4.215/115.85mph result to
he continued to work on his set-up.
With no further Top Fuel action occurring at the event, Olive walked away with his record intact for another day.
For the NDRC Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship racers, three qualifying runs were held on Friday with a number of brackets also able to undertake a fourth and final qualifying run on Saturday before the rains set in.
When the event was abandoned, the following racers were recognised as the NDRC Top Qualifier Medallion
