Greetings, library friend! We are smack in the middle of summer, and I’ve loved seeing the uptick in families coming in – makes my heart happy! We really hope you are enjoying our summer reading program and feeling ready to soon tackle back-to-school time. It seems to come earlier every year, doesn’t it?

Summer is the time of year we see the most library love. Longer days and a little slowdown in life seems to bring out the reading bug in a lot of people (or maybe it’s our cool AC ). Either way, we are here for you.

To that end, I wondered if you could do me a favor and help spread the good news about your library? September is Library Card Sign-Up

Month and we make it our mission to register as many new patrons as possible during this campaign (and all year, really). Could you tell a family member, a friend, or a neighbor about how the library has made your life better? Maybe it was a cool program, a book you loved, or seeds you grew – so many possibilities! Another option would be to make a post on social media or share one that we make. A Google review more your speed? We love those too! When talking to your friends about your love of the library, help us remind them that library cards expire! If they have had a card “forever” or they “had one as a kid” but don’t actively use the library, it’s likely the card is expired or no longer in the system. Having an active card is one of the best ways to support us.

As always, see you at the Library!

Library Spotlight

After four years of planning, the Iva Branch Library has found its new home at 622 E. Front St. What was once a historic firehouse has been transformed into a contemporary, cozy library, perfect for relaxing, studying, and of course, reading!

This new library offers an expanded collection, including a LEAP Station, which circulates materials such as sports and fishing equipment, a large meeting room, two study rooms, and a beautiful children’s play area, and will be offering a weekly preschool storytime. We hope to be here for many years to come, and sincerely thank our partners, Anderson County and the town of Iva, for their continued support.

Go beyond the books at the Anderson County Library! Keep reading to learn all about how you can explore our databases, discover little-known library services, and connect with others at your library.

Explore.

Explore ‘How to Draw 101’ - one of over 600 courses offered by Universal Class. What sets this free online course apart isn't just the content - it's the approach. You'll be gently guided through each step, gaining insights that go beyond traditional instruction. You'll learn from professionals who not only teach you to draw but help you see drawing as a language - a powerful way to communicate without words.
