The official Youth Ministry newsletter of Anderson First UMC What’s going on? Some of you have probably noticed the Youth Ministry newsletter looks a bit different. The biggest thing is it’s significantly shorter. This is not an attempt for me to be lazy. This is the natural flow of how this newsletter has been progressing over the years. When I made the first major change to the newsletter (the format you all have seen the past two years or so), I tried to make a point this is a “living” document. It’s always suspect to change and adjustment. Since then, the changes I’ve made have been little ones – adding new columns, changing the physical format of the newsletter, or changing the content/name of certain columns. It’s time for another major change. This newsletter will now be coming to you in two different formats. You will still receive a PDF in your e-mail inbox of a document in the “traditional” newsletter sense. It will include a column reviewing what we have been doing and talking about in the youth ministry – basically general news. The other section will be the specific news – the upcoming events, lessons, and/or studies we are going to do. It will simply be straight information and facts (or at least to the best I can provide straight facts). The other format of this newsletter will come to you in the form of a blog. All of the other types of articles one could find in this newsletter will now be posted there (i.e. “Parenting Tips, Pop Culture, Random Facts,” etc). I won’t get into a lot of the specific reasons behind why I chose this format because you can read all about that on “The First Post” on the blog. However, I will say this is going to be a much-improved change. The blog format will allow us to interact together more – strengthening the community bond within our congregation. One thing I can say about the audience who receives this newsletter is everyone seems to welcome any changes that occur in this newsletter. It’s pretty nice – it not only has been a good source of information and knowledge to everyone, but it has been a nice outlet for me to infuse some creativity into this ministry. I hope all of you take to this new format well and really utilize the advantages of the blog. God continues to do great things in this youth ministry and this church! Amen to God’s creativity!
Upcoming Events YLT Meeting The Youth Leadership Team (or YLT for short) is a group of teens (or youth if you will) who meet once a month to discuss the youth ministry and what types of things they would like to see happen in it. This group is open to any youth to attend, but keep in mind it is a time to work. The next meeting will be on January 15th after youth until about 8:15 P.M.
