Above are the cells of notes corresponding with the numbers on the score. These sections of aleatory should be played as the score indicates in style and in rhythm in the first measure (raindrops on a window) and should correspond to the trill markers on the E4 and B4 line throughout the score.

The entire piece should be performed with the pedal down. The piece is read graphically via the spacing between events on each system. Each system should be roughly 20”-30” of music. & Accidentals do not carry over from system to system. The piece is played with two warm (soft/medium) mallets in positions 1 and 4, and two thin rute sticks in positions 2 and 3. Regular note heads and t t represent soft/medium warm mallets. X note heads and g g represent thin rute sticks.

*the ossia noted in the 7th system of page 2 is the optional F in parenthesis that should be attempted as a strike between the F and & G bars subsequently activating both. Otherwise the G should be played by itself.

Program Notes: I tend to write most of my music with the intent to capture a single fragment of an emotion or experience that I can both understand myself as well as have some idea that others may relate to. “you have a home here” was written in very comfortable solidarity between many moments alone at a vibraphone and began as a means to express and understand kindness in its simplest form. The kind of kindness that isn’t loud or obvious but is inherently important to what makes us feel meaningful or loved. This piece was created with the image of rain in mind and the people who I would invite to stay in the warmth of our home instead of enduring the rainy day. My hope is for these feelings to be relatable to anyone who has a home in others and extends theirs without question.
