Program Notes Passersby - (plural noun) any person(s) who happens to be going past something, especially on foot. Unnoticed - The person who passes by without notice. Noticed - The person who attracts that extra bit of attention. A Smile - The person/thing that brings you a bit of joy for a short moment. A Familiar Voice - The person who you can’t help but stop for.
Performance Notes Technique text: - P = sul pont - T = sul tasto - air = air sound via muting the string with multiple fingers Unbowed trills: - Notated with a triangle notehead, the performer should trill without bowing, producing sound solely through tapping the note on the fingerboard. The smaller note in parentheses is the secondary note in the trill fingered but not tapped. This technique appears in the first 3 movements. This technique will be very quiet. Movement Specific Notes: Unnoticed/Noticed - Retuning is notated at the end of each movement (G to F# for “Noticed” and back to G for “A Smile”). - The staff on top in “Noticed” is sounding pitch while the bottom staff is fingered pitch. This is true for the end of “Unnoticed” as well. A Smile - Solely pizzicato and has the opportunity to be played like a guitar. X noteheads indicate muting the string audibly. A Familiar Voice - Played entirely as double stops with open strings (besides the very end). Stems without noteheads indicate the open strings which are specified with note heads when changing.
