Welcome to the 25th Ancasta Collection Since our last collection, which arrived during the tail end of the pandemic, much has happened in our industry as well as within Ancasta Group. We hope this Collection can shed some light on what has been happening and what we can look forward to.

Yesterday, Ancasta was awarded “Best Customer Service” from Beneteau. While any industry, particularly the marine industry, is overrun in self-appreciating honours, this award from the world’s biggest yacht manufacturer, for being the best in customer care, is by far and away the most prized.

With the longest day of the year already behind us, our sights are fully set on the busy boat show season ahead. Cannes Yachting Festival and Southampton Boat Show are kicking off the proceedings in September, and with many new boat launches delayed over the past few years, we have an incredible lineup of new sailboats and motor yachts to present. From the World Premiere of the Beneteau First 44, and the new Prestige X60, to the greatly anticipated Lagoon 51, there will be lots to see. Meanwhile, multihull sales continue to flourish with McConaghy Yachts set to deliver a great number of boats this year, and Prestige are launching their very first powercat, the M48. Our new dealer for Protector Boats, PB Europe, is also fully up and running, and the team is looking forward to presenting its first two

production boats, the 330 Chase and 380 Targa, at the Southampton Boat Show.

In the superyacht and high-end motor yacht market, Italian shipyards Bluegame and Sanlorenzo, are giving British brands a run for their money with highly customised options – see page 96 to get the lowdown.

La Grande Motte Multihull Show 2022 20th – 24th April Lagoon 51 World Premiere

After a two-year break due to Covid-19, we were delighted to see Europe’s largest multihull show return. Despite atypical weather for the Mediterranean, visitors were out in force to see a multitude of Lagoon models at the show.

The highlight of the event was the long-awaited World Premiere of the Lagoon 51. This latest model from Lagoon Catamarans, the world’s largest multihull builder, was certainly worth the wait! From

the moment you step on board, it’s easy to see that Lagoon have, once again, designed a cat with style, performance and comfort.

From bow to stern, the Lagoon 51 is packed with attractive features, including extra wide transoms and swim platforms - the perfect place to sip a cocktail or two with your feet in the water - and an enormous aft cockpit with plenty of seating and an extendable table for meals with family and friends.

Palma Boat Show 2022

28th April – 1st May - BG54 World Premiere With 270 exhibitors and over 600 yachts on display, of which 300 were afloat, this year’s Palma Boat Show was bigger and better than ever!

South Coast Boat Show 2022 6th – 8th May

Once again, the sun shone brightly for the 2022 South Coast Boat Show in Southampton. With models from Beneteau Power, Beneteau Sail and Lagoon Catamarans on display, visitors were spoilt for choice.

We love the boutique feel of this event; with fewer crowds, serious buyers have more time to explore the boats in detail and discuss various ownership options with our experienced and knowledgeable yacht brokers.

Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 WINNER 2022

The Grand Trawler 62 has a distinctive displacement hull, developed by MICAD, improving cruising range and efficiency, and allowing owners to cast off on long-distance cruises.

WORLD LAUNCH The entry-level model of Sanlorenzo's revamped semi-displacement range, the SD90/s is the third chapter in a success story that began with the SD96 and SD118.

With this new configuration, Sanlorenzo introduces a series of innovative features conceived from ongoing stylistic and technological research, including hybrid propulsion.The SD90/s represents a greener proposition thanks to materials from alternative sources and a "sustainable hybrid" propulsion system developed in collaboration with Siemens. Zuccon International Project designed the SD90's exterior lines, and Patricia Urquiola designed the interior.

NEW – Prestige M48 With a volume equivalent to that of a 60-foot motor yacht, the new Prestige M48 delivers abundant comfort and space onboard. Utilising space between the hulls, the large interior incorporates a vast saloon area, and suites for owners and guests. Add to that 360-degree views from the saloon and outward-facing guest beds with panoramic hull windows, breathtaking sea views are guaranteed.

For greater stability and improved fuel efficiency, the performance of the M48 is optimised for cruising speeds of between 8 and 18 knots, with propulsion provided by 2 x 320 HP engines. The two hulls offer exceptional stability, enabling the M48 to go without stabilisers, further reducing weight and fuel consumption while improving performance.

After a few quiet years due to COVID, we were delighted to be able to host a couple of Ancasta Club cruises in May this year.

Under the guidance of a professional skipper, the fleets crossed the Channel (many for the first time) to visit ports in Northern France.

The events run by the Ancasta Motorboat Club and the Ancasta Yacht Club provide a fantastic opportunity for owners to cruise in company and gain experience of longer passages with the safety of a lead boat and support crew. With the navigation, passage planning and the booking of berths and restaurants taken care of, participants are able to enjoy their boats to the max with the peace of mind that help is on-hand if required.

Antibes Cannes La Napoule Saint Tropez With the Mediterranean boat show season fast approaching, there’s no better time to plan a trip along the spectacular Cote d’Azur, aka the French Riviera. Amongst the glitz and glamour of Cannes and Antibes, tranquil anchorages, some only accessible by boat, provide a welcome escape.

From Port Vauban, Europe’s largest marina, you can wander the old cobbled streets of Antibes and enjoy magnificent sea views from the ramparts and Phare de la Garoupe lighthouse. Find a picturesque anchorage near La Garoupe for a lazy lunch onboard before heading south around the Cap d’Antibes to discover a rugged landscape of pearly white rocks, emerald green vegetation and sparkling aquamarine nooks.

Saint Tropez

For the best superyacht spotting, drop anchor by Pampelonne Beach.

With crystal clear waters and a golden sand shoreline, this is a popular anchorage where you can get amongst some of the most luxurious yachts in the world. For a more peaceful setting, head to the Illes d’Hyeres, where you can find tranquil coves to swim in and waterside taverns offering delicious feasts of freshly caught seafood. Or head to the hidden gem of Cap Taillat, only accessible by boat, boasting deserted white beaches and azure blue bays.

La Napoule

As you approach La Napoule, you’ll be greeted by the imposing Château de la Napoule and the verdant conical hillsides of San Peyre. To admire the red-rock Esterel mountains, cruise along the nearby coastline, and find a secluded anchorage for a refreshing swim. Onshore, the vast marina with nearly 1,000 moorings has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the town of Mandelieu-la-Napoule boasts friendly bars and restaurants.

Ancasta La Napoule is headed by Murray Bray who has been established in the Cote-Azur area since the late eighties.

Whether you are looking to buy, sell, or simply want extra cruising advice when visiting the area, Murray and his team are armed with extensive local knowledge and have excellent contacts up and down the coast.

Cannes

Les Iles de Lérins, an archipelago of islands south of Cannes, is a must-see destination by boat. Renowned for verdant shorelines, edged with golden sand beaches and lapped by calm, turquoise waters, there are abundant idyllic anchorages to be discovered here. In contrast, Cannes, home to the rich and famous, is adorned with glamorous boutiques, gourmet restaurants and palm-fringed boulevards.

Ancasta Multihulls News Sustainability at the forefront for Lagoon

Always at the forefront of new technology and sustainability, there have been some exciting developments from Lagoon during the last 12 months. Lagoon is finally seeing concrete results from years of R&D on composite materials: where possible, they have replaced fibreglass with hemp fibre and partially bio-sourced resin on the Lagoon 51. This is in addition to the 3,400 Watts of solar power, creating a completely autonomous boat (ex air-con).

McConaghy Multihulls goes from strength to strength

The next 18 months are shaping up to be a stellar time for McConaghy Multihulls, with five sailing cats and four power cats planned for delivery to new owners from as far afield as the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and the UK. The level of customisation and systems-rich technology incorporated into each model reflect the skills and talents of one of the world's most respected high-tech, performance boat builders.

Countdown to the M-line launch from Prestige

Over two years in development and announced last September, the M48, the first model in a brand-new range of powercats from Prestige, will be unveiled at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival (6 - 11 September 2022). The M-Line fulfils today's demand for more space, stability and improved fuel consumption. It certainly looks like she’s ticking all those boxes.

By identifying weak spots and having them professionally repaired before they break, mast failure can usually be avoided. Standard yacht insurance policies also require that your rigging is kept in a fit and proper seaworthy condition, so it’s essential to ensure that your mast and standing rigging are in good condition at all times.

FIVE LIFE-CHANGING YEARS

When the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust approached Ancasta to help find and develop a yacht to make sailing more accessible for young people living through and beyond cancer, no-one imagined quite how big an impact that would have.

But five years and two boats later, hundreds of young lives have been transformed by the ‘Heroes’, and the Trust’s flagship Beneteau Oceanis 45s have become familiar features around the Solent and Firth of Clyde, where they are sailed.

Pushing the boundaries Cancer can have a significant impact on a young person’s mental wellbeing. For many young people, simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis isn’t possible. That’s why when treatment ends, the Trust’s work begins.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust has been taking young people sailing to inspire them to believe in a brighter future since 2003.

Many of these young people, particularly those who have had bone or eye cancers or brain tumours, live with mobility and sensory challenges from their treatment and/or surgery.

So, in 2016, following the advice and support of Ancasta, the Trust took delivery of its first specially adapted yacht, Caledonian Hero, at its Scottish base in Largs. A year later, her sister vessel, Solent Hero, arrived at the Trust’s East Cowes home.

What makes the ‘Heroes’ yachts unique is they were modified; more handrails aid mobility around the yacht, a two-level bunk

cabin in the bow provides extra sleeping space and easy access, while the primary winches were moved forwards to create more room to move around when trimming the sails. The back of the boats also fold down so young people can step from the pontoon straight onto the boat. All this work was undertaken

by Ancasta Yacht Services.

Game changers Frank Fletcher, Trust CEO, says the ‘Heroes’ have been a game-changer.

“You can see what it means to the young people as soon as they’re on the pontoon. Most of them have never sailed before; a yacht is an alien environment to them. Just being able to step straight onto the boat, for example, helps put them at ease right from the start.

“By making everything as inclusive as possible to all abilities, the young people realise what they are physically and mentally capable of again after treatment, which gives them a new sense of self-worth and purpose and helps them rediscover their independence. They start to feel optimism for the future, and we continually see that transformation happen during the time they’re sailing with us.”

The year Caledonian Hero was launched, 515 young people were supported by the Trust.

This summer, the Trust will welcome up to 650 young people from across the UK. Some 350 will experience their first sailing adventure while around 300 are coming back for more. The ‘Heroes are once again changing hundreds of young lives.

The benefits of buying Italian Why Italian motor yacht brands are challenging high-end British shipyards

The superyacht and high-end motor yacht market is growing, especially in the sub 30m category and according to the recent Global Order Book, Italian shipyards are leading the way by generating the greatest volume of yacht sales by unit globally.

Nick Hatfield, Sales Manager at Sanlorenzo Yachts UK and Ireland, tells us why the Italians are set to give the British motorboat manufacturers a run for their money in the UK. Customisation As with most things Italian, their yachts are sleek, stylish and with uncompromising attention to detail – think Ferrari, Gucci and Bulgari for inspiration. The exclusive Italian motor yacht brands, such as Sanlorenzo and Bluegame, deliver these qualities with a point of difference: customisation.

“As the motoryacht market developed, everything started to look the same,” says Nick. “Manufacturers were using the same person to design the boat, its hull and the interior. Designers were creating fabulous interiors for villas and apartments which are much more suited to the task, but the boating industry wasn’t using them at that time.

“Sanlorenzo was the first brand to really tailor make a yacht in terms of customisation. It looked outside the industry for specialist talent and brought in big-name designers.The idea was that if someone was renovating their home, the designers could understand their preferences and translate these into the interior of their yacht.”

Tailor Made Many boating brands, including British builders, have followed suit and offer basic customisation for their clients, but the Italian brands have raised the game further.

“There are different levels of customisation,” Nick explains. “When buying a suit, you can walk into a shop and pick a suit off the shelf which will fit perfectly adequately.You could then take that suit to a tailor, who’d modify it to fit better.This is basic customisation and is what customisation means for many motorboat manufacturers; you take the base design and ‘customise’ it aesthetically with a different leather or wood finish.

“Alternatively, you could visit a tailor who starts with a piece of material.

Everything is then made to measure for you, to your exact requirements.

This is what Sanlorenzo and Bluegame offer as standard when they say ‘customisation’.

“We start with a hull, which is characteristically Sanlorenzo, but interior wise, it’s completely tailor-made.We bring in designers from all over the world, ensuring that fixtures, fittings and fabrics are all exactly what and where the client wishes. If they don’t like the galley location for example, we move it!”

However, this doesn’t apply to the exterior aesthetic: “Having spent a lot of time designing a boat that is classically beautiful with its iconic windows, providing a look not seen on any other vessel, Sanlorenzo understandably doesn’t want to play around with the external design,” explains Nick.

Having a tailor-made yacht does come at a premium cost, but many clients are willing to pay extra to get exactly what they want and to have a yacht which is truly unique to them.

Attention to Detail The attention to detail that these brands offer is also catching the eye of potential owners in the UK. One UK owner who purchased a Sanlorenzo last year says: “I have a yacht which is completely tailored to me, and I can’t begin to say how impressed I am with the attention to detail onboard.The ugly air intakes on the sides have been cleverly hidden, and the join where the hull and the deck meet aren’t visible, giving a beautifully clean hull.”

“It’s also a very quiet yacht - the level of consideration that’s gone into the removal of sound and vibration is second to none, with all rails and metalwork mounted on anti-vibration pads.This isn’t something I’ve experienced on my previous boats from a British manufacturer.”

Growing UK Market But it’s not just Sanlorenzo making strides in the UK market; a brand new Bluegame BGX60 has just arrived in the UK. Boasting features not previously seen on this type of craft, it was chosen for its alternative approach to boat design, and it certainly turned heads at the recent British Motor Yacht Show.

“It seems that 60ft flybridge motorboats predominantly have the same layout across the brands. Designs haven’t changed for 20 years,” says the new owner, Mr Jones. “I wanted something different.The design of the Bluegame is both disruptive and innovative, providing a multifunctional layout and unprecedented space.The high level of standard specification, combined with robust engineering and redundancy normally associated with bluewater cruising yachts, really makes Bluegame stand head and shoulders above the norm.”

Nick continues: “Previously, Italian brands relied on selling to British owners through their Mediterranean dealer network. But as demand for larger motor yachts increases in the UK, Italian brands are opening local offices, offering services and support for their yachts to make them more attractive than before.”

With growing representation in the UK and a hunger to offer a point of difference, the Italian brands are certainly turning heads and making a significant impression on the market.

Charter Investment WHAT IS CHARTER INVESTMENT? Our Charter Investment programme is run in partnership with Navigare Yachting. The idea is that you invest in a yacht that is then chartered out by Navigare and, depending on the level of investment you opt for, you can earn back up to 12% revenue per year or use the charter income to finance the remaining cost of the yacht. Navigare provides an option whereby the initial investment from you can be as low as 40% of the value of the yacht. The remaining value of the boat is then funded via the income generated by Navigare’s charter programme and a final payment from you at the end of the agreement, allowing you to spread your outlay over time.

If you choose Navigare’s Complete or Ultimate Finance packages, you will earn back up to 12% of the value of the yacht every year. Although this requires a 100% upfront payment of the value of the boat, this is a fantastic return on investment and you will still own the boat at the end of the 7 year term too.

SO HOW DOES IT WORK? There are four Navigare Yacht Investment programmes to choose from depending on how much capital you wish to tie up over the investment period – usually 7 years. Navigare can also work with you to develop a bespoke investment plan that works for your own individual lifestyle and investment needs, as well as include any other lifestyle assets that you have to offer, such as luxury villas or other charter yachts:

COMPLETE FINANCE You loan Navigare the full purchase price of a new boat and receive a fixed revenue of up to 9% of the value of the boat every year. You will also have access to their holiday programme during the term of the agreement. At the end of the agreement, the boat is yours.

SMART FINANCE You pay a reduced fee of around 55% of the value of the boat. This option ties up less capital, but there is no annual return to the investor; the revenue is used to pay off the remaining cost of the boat. At the end of the agreement, the boat is yours.

SMART-LOW FINANCE This works in a similar way to the Smart Finance package, but the initial investment is as low as 40%-60%, with a delayed staggered final payment of 15-20% at the end of the investment period. At the end of the agreement, the boat is yours.

ULTIMATE FINANCE You loan Navigare the full purchase price of a new boat and receive a variable income of up to 12% of the value of the boat every year, depending on charter performance. by Ancasta to provide hassle-free yachting.

Each member of the syndicate paid a deposit of £24,880 and they each pay £1,067 per month. These funds cover ALL of the yacht’s running costs including berthing, insurance, engine servicing, antifoul, annual winterisation, annual servicing, anodes, monthly valet, annual hull polish, weekly checks and a contingency of £3,000 per year.

Furthermore, all of the work will be managed and overseen by an Ancasta Customer Service Manager so the owners don’t need to worry about anything at all - this really is a case of turn up and go sailing! At the end of the agreement, the owners can choose to continue, buy out one another, or sell up completely. They are also covered by a guaranteed buyback option if they can’t find a private buyer.
