2016 marks Roy Orbison’s 80th Birthday, and to commemorate this special year we are proud to present our brand new production across the UK. This musical and semi-autobiographical celebration of The Big O’s musical legacy is quite simply unmissable, as Barry Steele takes you on this specially revamped musical journey in time, from the early sun years right through to the late 80’s and the internationally acclaimed concert The black and white night. The show also pays homage to the time Roy spent with the Traveling Wilburys.

Top comedian William Caulfield joins us for a night of music and laughter with his special guest, award-winning country singer Seany Mac. William is no stranger to any of us, well known from not only his TV and radio shows but also from his very successful theatre tours when laughter very soon fills the aisles. So if for you, the combination of music and laughter is the benchmark of a great night out, then this is a show definitely not to be missed.

Bert Cooper and Harold Smiley are patients in a hospital ward together their peace is shattered as Sammy McCracken (an ardent Linfield supporter) and Felix Devlin (an equally ardent Glentoran supporter) are admitted, leading to much side-splitting antagonism. Add to this the caustic Sister, the nice but dim nurse Freda, the eccentric spinster and hospital visitor Miss Cherry and a few other hilarious characters such as the wrestler Mad McGurk, Bert’s cantankerous wife Martha and his bit on the side Dolores, and you have a recipe for hysterical medical madness and mayhem.

Pete and George are old friends, so much so that George has been Pete’s best man at both of his weddings. Pete, now happily married to Sarah, is appalled when George arrives with the news that his first wife Jessica was not killed in a climbing accident as they had thought but is alive and well and keen to resume her life with Pete! This unexpected revelation leads to a series of hilarious situations as they try to find a way out of this desperate plight without upsetting either of Pete’s wives or his second wife’s powerful mother. Accompanied by a live string quartet, Bookends perform the most authentic sounding tribute to the unforgettable music of Simon & Garfunkel. Made up of Dan Haynes & Pete Richards, Bookends have toured extensively with their concerts being described as ‘simply breathtaking’. Performing the songs in a truly captivating way, against a backdrop of images and video footage, their delicate recreation of the unmistakable sound of the American folk-rock duo is something of a masterpiece. Here many of the hits such as The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson and The Boxer and Bookends’ own beautiful rendition of the unforgettable Bridge Over Troubled Water. With early folk gems such as the haunting Sparrow and wonderfully poetic Bleecker Street, alongside music of Simon & Garfunkel’s solo careers, the concert is must see for any music lover.

The Old Courthouse

Tickets: £5 Time: 7.30pm

Following the success of Tim McGarry’s Irish History Lesson, Tim returns with a brand new stand-up show about our history. This time instead of taking on all of Irish history Tim will concentrate on the bits that we think matter the most. And because of the year that’s in, it can only be the 1916 Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme.

A picturesque review of the gardens opened in 2016 to raise funds for the Ulster Gardens Scheme, enabling the continued restoration and maintenance of many of the Trust’s fine gardens. Join the members of their Committee for a virtual tour of some of Northern Ireland’s best gardens and for a light seasonal supper afterwards.

What are the funny myths and facts about 1916? Why do we take our history so seriously? And how can we stop taking it seriously? He will ask serious questions, like - What can we learn from 1916? What would the people of 1916 think today? How the hell can we know? And frankly who cares?
