The worship of the sun was considered to be the greatest celebration to the ancient world. It was encoded in ancient texts dating back millennia from Ancient Egypt in the east to ancient cultures as the Mayans and Aztecs in the west.

Many ancient cultures built many huge megalithic structures to worship and study the sun, stone circle as Stone Henge, secret inner rooms that aligned the sun at it major annual stages (solstice and equinox), from across Britain in Europe, from Egypt in Africa, from temples in North and South America. Easter Island in the Pacific, Australia, Asia, across other countries of the world.

The sun is considered the source of all life and light and is central to the cosmic spirituality which is both ancient and timeless.

The principles of the sun have formed the basis of many of the world’s religions, unbeknown to many religious followers today.

The word "solstice" is derived from two Latin words: sol ("sun) and sistere ("to stand still"). So, basically, the solstice is the time when the sun stands still. Speaking in astronomical terms, solstice is the time, when sun reaches its highest (summer solstice) and lowest (winter solstice) point in the sky. During the winter solstice we have the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

Winter solstice usually occurs on December 21 to 23 in the Northern Hemisphere and on June 20 to 23 in the Southern Hemisphere.

The winter solstice was always one of the greatest events on the calendar cycle. This event had deep spiritual meanings in many cultures.

In many cases, Winter Solstice was associated with the birth of the Sun. And the birth of the sun meant the birth of the ‘god or goddess’ (Divine Spirituality in Unity of Origins). It must be said, that all Christian world still celebrates Winter Solstice as the Birth of Spiritual Sun, in the Image of Jesus Christ (Symbol of Cosmic Consciousness: CHRISTÕS).

The celebration of Winter Solstice can be called in many names, but the idea is the same. In ancient Egypt people celebrated the birth of Horus, in ancient Rome it was the birth of unconquered Sun, it was called Yule in ancient Europe. Ancient Persia celebrated the birth of Mithra, in ancient Mexico it was feathered serpent.

It seems that all ancient cultures had similar spiritual meaning for Winter Solstice. This means that all cultures had almost the same interpretation of this astronomical event. This means, that humanity always cared about the rebirth of light.

Fire festivals, celebrating the rebirth of the Sun, held on the Winter's Solstice can be found throughout the ancient world. The Roman festival of Saturnalia was held on the winter solstice, boughs of evergreen trees and bushes would decorate the house, gifts where exchanged and normal business was suspended. The Persian Mithraists held December 25th as sacred to the birth of their Sun Goddess, Mithras, and celebrated it as a victory of light over darkness. In Sweden, December 13th was sacred to the Goddess Lucina, Shining One, and was a celebration of the return of the light. On Yule itself, around the 21st, bonfires were lit to honour the Spiritual Sun ReBirth in the Image of Odin and Thor.

Colour is absorbed by the eyes, skin, skull our 'magnetic energy field' or aura and the energy of colour affects us on all levels, that is to say, physical, spiritual and emotional. Every cell in the body needs light energy thus colour energy has widespread effects on the whole body. Colour is a form of vibrational energy that has played an important role in health and healing for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians built halls of colour in their great temples at Thebes and other places, where they researched the influences of light and colour.
