Elli Kaunisto, Finnish, b. 1993, She/Her.
I was raised in the countryside –my folks were chiken farmers– where I was taught early the lesson of how much hard physical labor pays off (it doesn’t) and I taught myself the lesson of how to rebel and escape such predicaments.
I did however learn to love nature surrounding me, and the traditional folklore that was present in those forests and in its history.
I am best represented as a Riot Grrrl: Angry feminist, who loves everything soft and girly – and is very much ready to fight for these things.
As a person, I am rather outspoken and talkative once I get comfortable enough to do so. I try my best to see the nuances of every situation, for I do not see the world as black and white: It’s more like pastel.

In this project I was responsible for writing an article, doing the illustrations (that were done using gouache-paint and markers, whit touch ups in Photoshop) and designing the final layout according to the standards set by the project heads. The theme of the magazine was childhood, so I chose one of my favorite programs to write about.
This was an assignment for the Graphic design programs-course. I had to do the illustrations (using Adobe Illustrator) and the Layout (Using Adobe InDesign) for the Philip K. Dick novella The eyes have it. The assignment included a commercial poster as well, to be done using the same programs.

This book project was my submission for the Kymenlaakson Opisto exhibition on the spring of 2022. I wrote the story, designed all the characters, and painted all the pictures using gouache-paint. I designed the layout using both Photoshop and InDesign-programs, and binded the final book by hand.
Final illustrations
This was a job in spring 2022, in which my client Timo Trygg requested an advertisement poster and a concert program for his Pohjois-Kymen Musiikkiopisto graduation concert. I used Illustrator for the illustrations and backgrounds, and InDesign for the final layout of the program leaflets and poster.
This project was for the Design thinking -course: My job was to produce an packaging , a poster for both the product and the firm, and an logo and typography for an fictional company Nordic Blue Magic. I used Adobe Illustrator for the images and Adobe InDesign for the final layout.
For the Kymenlaakson opisto Art jewelry and package design course. The materials for the jewelry are: Birch wood, recycled ceramic swans, skull shaped pearls made from Fimo-mass, an amethyst rock, and mirror shards. The packaging was originally made as an watercolor and ink art, that was transferred to Photoshop and there to InDesign. Logo and the poem were all designed by me. The material at the bottom of the packaging is velvet stickering.
This was an independent practice I did on February 2024. My goal was to create an design for a sweet, polite,old-fashioned yet somehow still twelve years old vampire boy. I colored this using Photoshop.
This was a character-design task for the Kymenlaakson Opisto in spring 2022. I illustrated a Magical girl whit powers from artistry fighting an robot. I colored the sketch in Photoshop, and added the explaining text in InDesign.
This was a practice assignment for kymenlaakson opisto character design -course, as well as an Photoshop-painting practice. I desired certain aesthetic for my warrior, sort of soft-cute fantasy-type. However, I had also picked out an axe as their weapon before picking out that style, so she has a bit of danger whiting herself. Chanterelle-pictures I found helped to inspire the character more. This project was done on the spring of 2022.
