Animals should not be kept in cages by- Anooshka Sen (age 9) How would you feel if you were cooped up in a cage all day long? Well guess what, animals are being treated like that every day. I’m going to show you why animals should not be in cages. It increases stress, destroys health and prevents them from following their natural instincts. You might be wondering why this topic is important, but our beloved animals are just as important as us. We should care about them.

For instance, when an animal is captured, it goes through a lot of stress, it is separated from its herd and put in a strange looking cage surrounded by strange things. Also, the process of capturing an animal is also very stressful, often animals are tired, confused and hurt. In circus they are forced to go through hoops and jump through the ring of fire to escape being caned. In captivity birds’ wings are chopped so that they can’t fly off. According to Studies, animals in captivity die early because of the stress they go through.

Often animals in the cage are not properly cared for, cleaned and kept in unhealthy conditions. If they are not properly cleaned and given fresh food and water, the unhealthy condition may lead to serious health problems and the animals could suffer from infection and diseases. This can also be harmful for humans as the disease can transmit from animals to us. Being in the wild is natural for animals and is also good for their health and general well-being. No animal should be kept in cages since it destroys their health Lastly, animals should not be in cages as it prevents them from following their natural instincts. But if they're in a cage they don't get the freedom they get in the wild and it affects their mental wellbeing. According to studies, animals who live in cages go through depression because they lose their natural instincts. No animal should be kept in cages as it prevents them from following their natural instincts.

We should stop putting animals in cages and they should be left in the wild, where they can live their life. Being in the wild won’t affect their health but being in a cage will. FUNERAL By - Shama Dinesh (age 21) Have you ever seen someone die?

You see shreds of humanity leak when people cry Have you attended someone's funeral?

No one seems to care if they were kind or brutal You see an old man with a smile, strutting at a pace Seeing the dead, not to pay respects but to save his face You see the young children running around The face of death a stranger to them; not to be found You see the dead man's children cry You see them turn around and smile, their tears dry You see people standing at the back without a care They have no feelings towards the dead left to spare You see people in tears, refusing to let go You hear whispers of friends, family and foe Rituals remain meaningless, a plain formality You hope and pray that the dead and alive reach serenity You witness the dead being free as the living mourn You see past grudges being put aside, or new ones form You see people pretend to move past their history You see people faking joy and misery Hundreds come to see the deceased, a few remain till after You remain alone in your grief, you become its master The dead don't have to care, they're relieved from their fears Humanity left behind is bound to suffer evermore with unending tears Illusions of grandeur and false notions follow you until you breathe Yet, either burnt or buried, we carry nothing but our sin filled wreath -- The end – 8
